A day for ranges...

It's always fun when I come across vintage appliances during my route as the Maytag Man. Today was a good day for "range spotting". This morning was a call out in the boonies off US395 near the Nevada/California border. Quite a drive to get to this ranch but I like out of the way ranches as the owners usually keep everything, even if it's broken. Here's a couple of stoves next to a outbuilding...

A nice OKM similar to mine except this has a griddle intead of 6 burners and a heater in the left hand side. All the knobs, etc. were inside the oven...

The little one is a Royal. Not very familiar with the brand but cute.

Then, this afternoon, I was treated to this pretty sight while on a washer call. The little old lady is the original owner and has kept her well...

When's the last time you could actually see the inside of the temp indicator on the griddle instead of a grease clogged window?

That ladies O'Keefe and Mettit is beautiful. I wished I had the room for one. They were probably the best you could buy at the time.

It's the grillevator! Actually really neat. I almost wish mine had this instead of the second oven. Almost... I don't think it sees much use. The owner still enjoys cooking with it. Bread proofing by pilot light only...

And ebay sellers always want $50+ for a set. I got a spare set because a seller relisted some and accidentally left the "4" off - he listed for $9.99 buy-it-now instead of $49.99. He honored the price though.

 

There was a six burner O&M WITH griddle on ebay awhile back. Selling price was $399.00 and I would have bought it if it wasn't 1300 miles away. Never seen that model before or since. The griddle was on the right side, stove was 42" wide.

My dream stove...

The Wedgewood Eldorado! Either 6 or 8 burners plus griddle and more ovens than should be allowed by law. Wonderfully trimmed and lighted and topped off with the Cadillac "V" on the backsplash. I have only seen one way back when about 18 years ago when she came in for restoration at a shop I worked at. Instant lust! It's almost impossible to even find an image anywhere on the web yet I would so dearly love to find even a picture to put on my wish wall...
