Well i have been quite absent from here and life in general for quite a while.. The move from phoenix to vegas was very hard on me.. I had a room mate there and in the time i was gone, he stole 98% of what was left in the house.. And trashed the rest.. I was in between jobs and a combo of things i had to leave. And now i regret that.. My ex partner flew out and is cleaning out whats left (not much)..He is filing a police report..So as of today, i am starting over from scratch.. New everything...
My question for you all... what is your take on having roommates and people live with you that arent spouses.. What would you do? i am in shock some one i trusted would do this to me. maybe im nieve.. but still

I've had roommates before. Even though none of them were perfect, none of them did anywhere close to what you're talking about here. I can understand how it happens, though, and I know that I was both careful and lucky. My general assumption about people is to think that they'll do the wrong thing if given the chance, so I don't become friends or roommates with people who I have not known long.

Don't let this ruin it all for you, though. Not everyone is bad, and it's usually really fun to live with a couple of other people. Just probably don't move in with anyone that you have not known for a while and with whom you share some mutual friends. That'll lessen the chances that they'd feel like they could get away with doing something like this.

I had a room mate for 12 years.Everything was great until she invited a "bad seed" to come and stay claiming that she was living in her car.She was obnoxious?,smoked cigarettes and pot in the house, drank beer 24/7,and brought in a male friend who stole my and my friend's personal I.D.costing her $1400 and me $1200.He was on probation from a previous felony and was trying to hide from the police on other, more recent, charges filed against him for assult and battery.Once the police found out he was living with us,they tried to charge us with attempting to hide him from his arrest. We convinced the judge we had no idea of his being wanted and had evidence proving he had stolen our idendities to drain our accounts. They found him guilty and he was jailed.I went to Chicago to go see the KBIS (Kitchen and Bath Industrial Show) and when I returned home,he was back!!! I found oout they released him and put him on probation. All three of them went to visit her mom in Texas.I packed all my shit and left.I'll never know why my room mate changed that severly.I thought we had a great relationship. Some people do change though. However, before she connected with her so called friend,we were inseperable. We each had our own section and the rest was nutral teritory.

I only had roommates in college and for a year or two afterwards. It was pretty much a mess each time.

One college roommate was a rich kid who had mommy & daddy pay for everything. He got a new car every year and soon after he got them they looked like a rolling dumpster. The back seats were always filled with beer cans and McDonalds wrappers up to the window sills. Needless to say he left all kind of garbage around our room. Just before the end of the school year, he drove his car (a 1971 Mustang Grande) into a local lake while partying in the woods with some people. He didn't come back to school the next year. He was so reckless I wonder if he is even still alive today.

Then the next year I had a real redneck for a roommate. He had to sleep with the windows wide open at night, never mind the outside weather conditions. He chewed tabacco and spit all over the room. I moved out after two weeks. Yuck.

In MSP I used to have a crash pad that was shared by me, another pilot and a flight attendant. It was very rare that more than one of us were there at the same time. But we have rules about keeping the place clean. It works out just fine.
I am currently looking for a new crash pad in Memphis. I recently got moved from MSP to MEM. But I'll keep my home in Houston. I hope I can find the same kind of people there.
