A good day at the haulaway pile Pt.2

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Andrew. What a grogeous set!!!! WOW

Keep these and get rid of a Maytag set. The Ge's wash so much better. I know, I had both.

Does anyone else agree with me here about the Ge's washing better than the Tags??

Great GE set!

My former neighbor Thelma - from across the street - had this set in white. I always thought they were very classy looking. IIRC they bought them in '67 or '68, and kept them until the early 80's when they got the Toast colored Kenmore set.

Fins

Funny, I don't remember the fins extending beyond the base plate on the couple that I have played with in the past.

Tub Indexing

It's so great you saved these. We had a washer just like this one except in white and no "normal/cold wash" option. Replaced it with a Maytag 10 years later after oil spots started appearing on the clothes. Is it just me or does there seem to be more sympathetic tub indexing happening than usual?

congrats to happy washermen, to another Mike, I presume, or

RCD......these are magnificent machines. They should have kept the fins extending beyond the plate, making for better wash action, when they switched to 4 vane instead of instituting the abbreviated fins which just can compete with the ramp. Only time I use the 4 vane is for delicate stuff like sweaters, and of course for the mini-basket; otherwise it's ramp ramp ramp all the way.

Again, you have the coolest job in the world and thanks a million for sharing. When you get a chance would you give me the YouTube title for your flick, since I have to enter YT through an email screen.

Beautiful, beautiful stuff.

Mickeyd The title is "GE Washer Agitation" Enjoy!

Lebron, I assume you're talking about the picture of underneath the washer. That is the web drive. It goes by several names but it's a coupler between the clutch and the pump. When the chassis (tub, motor, etc) moves around during wash, etc. the coupler allows movement of it while the pump stays in one place. Now that you mention it, I might shoot a little video of the drive train while it's washing so you can see it in action. Stay tuned!

Hey Appnut, where did you get Kevin from? LOL!

HEY! You want a howl for the day?

I honestly thought that "what looks like strips of cloth" was the rest of the underwear, "spider underwear," which is why I thought Calvin Klein would be inspired to draft a new undies ad campaign.

Amazing!

I bet this is a 1968 model. Perhaps one model above or below mine (probably above). The dryer is my exact model and is a very good dryer. Mine is on the fritz though and is now out of service. (keeps shorting out for some reason)

They are both stunning though! Looks like the transmission may be a little worn. Agitation looks great but there's some indexing that shouldn't be occuring. Otherwise it is awesome!!!

Congrats on an incredible find!
