A Great GE Dishwasher

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Cool!! Just like the one Bob has, complete with rapid-advance timer!

This would definitely be the latest I would go on a GE-design DW...anything newer than this is s***!

Now now.

My cheap near-BOL GE comuterized water-hog basement DW (that I got for $75 due to a dent on the kick-panel and dust in the tub) BLOWS my SS KA tall-tub off the planet when it comes to performance. Oh and the GE is QUICK!

They even got the flatware bin out of the center and put it agianst the side-wall. YAY! We won't discuss the cut-out in the center of the lower rack BOOO!

Other than no cycle-progression lights, I have really very little that is negative to say about it.

LOVE my GE

We got a brand new GE Triton XL Tall tub last May and we love it to death. Everyone else's dishwasher I see now looks tiny in comparison. The thing cleans phenominally with minimal detergent. It's quiet as hell, the racks are GREAT. I've witnessed Steve's Kitchen Aid, believe me, it blows in comparison to our GE Tritons. Research before you bash LOL

agree w/ geoff

Mom LOVES her Triton XL but didn't have it until after we purchased our KM/WP made 1602. We are happy w/ our 1602's overall performance and large capacity but would definitely give TOL GE a look next time...

I love my GE and my dishwasher history

Growing up
Kenmore roto-racks (2) were great
then
Maytag Belt Drives (several) me family freinds (EXCELLENT)
I dare anyone to try to fit a load from one of those into any other dishwasher.

Maytag (new design with the wobble center spray)
Again (several) me family friends (Excellent)
while these could not hold as many dishes/glasses as the old belt drives.....the racking is so flexable for odd and tall items.............excellent cleaning

Then Maytag changed to a center spray arm with the intro of the their tall tub. Mysister has the three rack version and hates it. I understand why. It is so hard to load and with all those spray arms....one thing gets in the way and you have dirty dishes. I have friend that has the tall tub version with two racks...it cleans well but is too hard to load.

So when it was time for me to buy a new one I went with the GE TRition Xl tall tub. I love it. It cleans very well.

I do not however like the racks as much as the Maytags...even with their center post. The only other quirk that this machine has (that I've never encountered on a nother machine) is that u have to be very careful what u put in front of the detergent dispenser.....even a small pan or bowl will prevent the detergent from being flushed from the dispsenser......only plates for that part of the rack

I totally concur....my GE Profile model 9800 SS dishwasher blows the doors off of just about any other dishwasher....and its cycles are fast. No pre-rinsing needed, it's quiet, big, flexible silverware baskets that break into 3 pieces so you only have to use what you need. Great racking, too. Most importantly - you never take a dirty dish out of it. And you just can't argue with clean!! I would buy another in a heartbeat, however, they aren't cheap. The plastic tub GE is a great alternative and will save a good bit of money over the SS interior. I highly recommend them. No gimmicks, just clean dishes.

re: very careful...

>> u have to be very careful what u put in front of the detergent dispenser.....

It's the same in our KM 1602. I do most of the loading in our house and have learned not to put a lot of bowls on the very first rung of the top rack or the water doesn't seem to flow strong enough to clean. Also have to be careful with handles and such wherever you load or else a spray arm will get caught. Re: BOL GE when we built our home we had a 'Nautilus'. When High Temp wash was selected that sucker got it BLISTERING HOT! I put in some extra sound insulation to quiet it some more. Aside from a loud solenoid advance that sounded like a loud BANG (highly annoying) it was as great a cleaner as our KM. Load capacity and flexibility b/c it was BOL though was nothing compared to our Tall Tub. Would not go back to a standard tub regardless of model in the future.

We got a GE Triton XL few years ago too GSD 6600. It's the plastic tub. It is by far the best performing dishwasher i've ever seen. Even my aunts' standard tub KA (circa 1999) trails a bit. Mostly because it lacks the third wash arm. so there's always crud in the top of their cups.
But the Triton XL is amazing. I did the Cascade/Cake test in this machine. It protested in the prewash, but after a full cycle, the machine was spotless! The turbidity soil sensing of this machine is phenominal because it'll adjust for the rediculous over-prerising that my mom does.

We cured the soap dispenser problem by just switching to cascade tabs. no more caked dispenser.
GE's have the best racking i've ever seen, even their BOL machines have really good racking compared to BOL other machines.
