Thanks for the great link! I have not perused the entire site yet but look forward to doing so. There are many fine examples of this type of home in our general area, and I'm hoping as mid century modern continues to become more popular, that people will have interest in restoring them in a manner consistent with their "roots".

The day I gush "Oh honey, for me" over a vacuum cleaner, someone please pull the plug! *LOL*

Otherwise a great site, as I wasn't around during the 50's it alway is interesting. Most of my friends and girl cousins had "princess" bedrooms like the one shown. With a canopy bed and lace/frou-frou everywhere. Doubt you'd get many little girls/teenagers into a room like that today.

Saw a great movie about the 50's a few weeks ago, but the name escapes me. It was about this brother and sister who go from the 1990's to 1950's via televison, think they won a contest or something. Anyway their adapting to the 50's lifestyle was so funny. The girl having to wear the standard issue but uncomfortable range of undergarments, and eating a breakfast each day that would choke a horse (pancakes, eggs, bacon, ham, toast, milk, and OJ).

The mother had a lovely set of double ovens in her kitchen though, the windows were a wide oval shape. Lovely.

I remember that movie coming out, and always wanted to see it, anyone here remember the name?

Yes "Pleasantville" was the name of the film, thank you.

Would like to see it again to understand what was "going on", was too busy being caught up in the fifties decor/fashion to pay attention.

Resse Whitherspoon was great at the sister.

Most funny moment? The husband coming home and saying "Honey I'm home" and expecting his usual "Father Knows Best" greeting. Since his wife is not home he goes around the house searching for her going "Honey, I'm Home", like a robot stuck in a loop.

Only under current I could gather was the "other" and "different" in respects to the two huge issues of the fiftes, race and communisum.

Unless there is a diamond necklace wrapped around that Hoover, or the keys to a Lexus RX300 hybrid don't bet on it! *LOL*

Of course if I've been hitting the trifle sherry or eggnog then I might fall into giddy laughter! *LOL*!
