Rob has always been hankering after a twin tub (truth be sold - so have I) and when we saw this machine on ebay, we decided to take the plunge.

Its a September 1987 (date code 21) Hotpoint Supermatic De Luxe 9410A...

Picked it up from Rugeley on Friday evening, Rob just had to give it a very quick test whirl, juts to check things out...

Quickly through to today and time for a bit of a clean. Not that the machine really needed it as the machine had been very well looked after by its previous owner, although it had not been used for a number of months.

There were only a few cobwebs to clear away, as well as some of that weird dust that clings to the sides of machines.

here is the underneath, after the clean...

and the underneath of the spinner.

as you will notice there are no drivebelts! we have decided to replace these as they have stretched over time - the spinner belt in particular.
Indeed, the spinner does not anywhere near reach 3100rpm - replacements will be procured as soon as possible....

and to my favourite bit - the cleaning...

truth be told, there was little to do.

a quick wash over and polish was all that was really required.
the only hard(er) work was to remove some 'foot shuffling' marks which affected the bottom of the machine, extending about a cm or so up the cabinet from the floor.

with a bit of elbow grease they came off and the cabinet is about 98% perfect, with only a couple of minor scratches and no dents to speak of...

now for some of the detailing...

the machine is still fitted with the original 'Hotpoint Plus Points' sticker, detailing all the machines features.

You do kind of want to remove it to see the real Hotpoint Supermatic De Luxe name underneath but, for as long as me and Rob are in charge of this machine, it will stay just as it is....

the wash and heat selector.

the slight streaking around the heat selector is nothing to worry about - its just water residue from when i gave it a quick wash over. that area just hadnt dried yet...

Nice

That's nice twin tub you have. I hope you get the belts soon, would like to see a video of her in action. How much can the wash tub hold?
