It's been VERY hectic the past few weeks... Work has been pure hell and I am working on how to get out while I still can; hubby has been travelling to Switzerland, the UK, and Brazil; my father celebrated his 85th birthday on, get this 12-12-12; and plenty o' other stuff.... Like this:
In late summer, we decided that it would be nice to extend the entrance area of the house in Ogden. It was pretty small and kinda dangerous... I had been knocked down the stairs twice while removing winter footwear and the narrow space by the door would get wet and slushy in winter.
So, hubby got his designer software out and came up with a design for a new extension.
Here's what the structure looked like in late November.

Two weeks ago (December 1) the door had been moved, most of the siding was up, but there was still no floor and the window had not yet been installed. Worse still, the entry to the main house was wide open and cold air was flowing freely into the house... Contractors!

For light and ventilation, we had a fairly good-sized window installed. It faces down the hillside driveway so we can see when unwanted visitors show up.. LOL

Well anyway, it's going to be a huge improvement to our home in Ogden. I do plan on adding a bench of some sort to this entry. But now, the question is - will the job be complete by next week? The floor tiles still need to be installed and there will be french doors to close off the new addition from the rest of the house - again hopefully by the time we are down there for our Christmas break... Stay tuned...

Did Chris really take the time to draw your Maytag dryer?

With this attention to details, I'm thinking he might finally start to get some interest in your appliances! I think what he meant with this drawing is simply that you're not allowed passing through this entrance with a pre-1966 Maytag dryer. Which is fine since there's already one in the basement and this entrance is the only way out!

This will be a great addition to your house!

Oh, Pooh!

That warning is specifically pre-1966 Maytag dryers. That leaves later 'Tag dryers, dryers of other makes, washers both wringer and automatic, portable dishwashers, ranges, refrigerators and roll ironers!

Oh, and console TVs and stereos.

Now fill that space.

*ducks and runs*

That's the way I interpreted that very detailed sign.

Nice modified "A" frame, btw. A metal roof is always a good choice.

And congratulations on your new addition. It matches the rest of the house.

Paul,

If Chris ever draws something like this, I can try to help you to figure what it means and I might even have a solution for you!

Personally,

I like the idea of a small appliance pantry. Open for display, of course! Perfect for those Mixmasters you have tucked away in the attic.

Paul, it's beautiful. I have the perfect ficus tree for you to fill that airy space with.
