Dual 80 Bag
Okay folks I'm getting conflicting information here! First to clarify something with the Kirby bags.
Yes, you can still buy genuine Kirby bags from Kirby or any wholesale supplier, ie: HESCO, ESSCO, Star, etc. The newer bags made by Kirby are a better quality in that there is less dust leakage. However, and this is the BIG thing, on the tan and green bags, the Kirby name is in an oval and the ovals do not touch each other--this is the current, correct, replacement, genuine Kirby bag. The original styles are NOT available from Kirby or any other supplier.
On the correct original bags when brand new, the Kirby name is in a circle on the tan bags, (562, Sanitronic VII, Dual 50), and the circles all touch. A member of the VCCC has a new, in the box, never been used Dual 80 and the Kirby word is in ovals that are touching. This is the only bag that has the Kirby word in an oval and they connect, similar to the early original tan bags. When the Classic 1CR debuted in 1970, the bag was plain other than a identifying patch that was sewn on the upper left.
A word of note here, according to one of our Kirby devotees, the green bag with the Kirby name in the oval used on the Dual 80 that had the ovals touching each other was only used in the first year of production and then they went to the ovals spaced farther apart. One last thing, the bags used for the Classic and Classic Omega including the 1CR, 1CB, 2CB and 3CB, had at least three different types of bags in similar designs but some had a slight texturing, some were smooth and the colors varied slightly. By the time the Classic III rolled around the red plaid was introduced.
