A new life for an old Kirby

This Omega has been seen on here before, I bought it a couple of months back for $5 at a local thrift store.
Last month she went back home for a makeover. Today she arrived back in Roselle...
All I can say is WOW!
Even Jack is impressed!

I am no Kirby expert by any means, but I am very impressed! This machine is beautiful from top to bottom. You will have to explain your secret to me sometime as I have a "dull" Kirby Classic 1CR that could use a day at the Kirby spa for a younger look. Thansk for posting the pics Jeff!

once again, the Dog stares into the lens, and sets himself square in the middle of the frame, another cleaner upstaged! like how the bag complements Jacks coat. the cleaner looks like new. the dog is beautiful!

It went for a factory rebuild

At the encouraging of Fred and Charlie I sent it back to the factory.
The final cost was $65 for the rebuild, plus whatever I spent shipping it to Kirby and the initial $5 outlay.
SO for less than $90 I have a brand new Kirby, and does it ever run nice!

New Inside and Out

When those machines come back from the Kirby factory in Cleveland, they literally are brand new. Not only polished but completely rebuilt with motors completed knocked down and rebuilt and completely new cord, bag, trim and wheels. I love getting those boxes from Scott and Fetzer!

This should be an inspiration to us all to see, in the flesh, what metal polish and elbow grease can do. Besides having a Kirby and standing on your head to change attachments, qualifies for an exercise work out. Get the music going and up and down and rotate to the left and over and right and up and down and rotate to the right and up and down and now stroke and stroke and stroke. Can't you just see Jack LaLanne in his his famous ball crunching unisuit and the white wonder dog in the background. Maybe you could use a little peroxide on the Golden retriever.

That old Kirby looks stunning. When we do rebuilding thru our shop we have to send out all the metal pieces to a body shop to have them buff them out as we do not have the equipment to do so ourselves.

By the price that you paid seems like you got the rebuild price of 1980...not 2006. Awesome.

We charge a flat fee of 69.95 to have the pieces buffed to the mirro like finish, then an additional 69.95 to rebuild the rest of the machine and this usually includes brushroll, bag,cord and switch and most needed soft trim. We usually leave a complete motor rebuild as an a'la carte thing that the owner can opt for cost of parts.

Again your Kirby looks great and got a great deal too...

I'm a little confused. I thought that the rebuild from Kirby was only offered to the original owner. Does this mean that you've all found machines with the owners manuals intact and that all you have to do is send the machine and a photo copy of the guarantee page to Kirby to get it rebuilt at such a great price?

Yeah, I know Jeff. I got pipped on a few things yesterday because I had to "think about it". Someone else is always there to "think" faster. At least I pick up my nice Maytag wringer on Friday. Of course, it's supposed to be pouring rain. I love the look of the Kirby Classics and Traditions, but they are pain in the a-- to use. I love the 500 series, the Sanitronics and the Heritage II's. And please keep the new self propelled ones. Wouldn't give 2 cents for one. Opinions on anything else, anyone??

Also have Heritage II and Tradition, 518 and all original 561.
I like the classic series, they were so cool looking!

Kirby Rebuild Department

You're right, Luxflairguy, about how to get a Kirby rebuilt at the factory for the low price if you are not the original owner. However, for $350 (a standard price no matter what the model) the Rebuild Department will rebuild a Kirby even if you are not the original owner.
