Thw wall of Electra branded washing machines is fitted and under test, Electra is the brandname of what was our National Energy Provider, they had shops in Every town where you went to pay bills and purchase electrical goods, The big names we have here are washers made by Creda, Hoover and Philips.

Oh if only time could go slower during these meet ups. The new space that Al has created is brilliant and shows the fabulous collection of machines beautifully.

Its been great to help move things into place and have time to play and fix things too.i think Al is not going to be too popular with the recycling collectors though given the a,ount of bottles we got through!

A lovely long weekend with old friends and new and looking forward to many more.

S :)

WOW....
Al, it looks fantastic what a wonderful space you have created, wall-2-wall washers.

Do you have any space left for the Twin Tub's / Singles Tub's & Spinners...?

Be great to see it in the flesh some day

Cheers
Keith

WOW Al all your planning and work have really come together, a huge Thank You to you and Mike for letting us share in the big unveiling of your new home and collection space.

Ken and I really had a great weekend meeting all the other guys and seeing everyone working on getting the vintage laundry area together and watching all the food preparation etc that made this such a good time.

A few pictures of the event.

Gotta love these International Wash-Ins!  LOL

What a beautiful display - congratulations on a job well done!!

A few pictures of a UK Hotpoint TL Washer

This is a late 60s model being torn apart to repair an outer tub leak.

It is a fascinating machine, it is basically a smaller version of an American GE FF style washer that has a built-in 240 volt heater and spins much faster. You can see many similar design ideas with the US models and yet nothing is interchangeable.

All I can say is wow guys! I remember when I visited Al a couple of summers ago he was just getting the plans mapped out and organised. Seems like yesterday, How time flies!

Looks fantastic and well done all for getting hands on!

Best wishes to everyone :-)

Oh Mike

What a great weekend and Al, what a wonderful space to spend time with the best of friends, what fun and friendship there is to come. These gatherings are always backed up by such generosity and hard work before the event, thanks to you all, as all of us I'm sure if only we lived nearer to each other, what could be achieved? As Mike said, from the first `wash ins' we've all helped where we can, so I was pleased to be asked to help cook the meal on Sunday, the whites were intended as just a bit of fun that I thought would also offer up some stubborn stains to wash out. Another great selection of photos as always and lovely to relive these memories of this weekend and other times through previous threads.

Mathew

I also

thought that was a great photo of Darren and Steve 5/7 post 31. Steve and Mike, thanks for hotpoint toploader photos, seeing how easily they come apart is a real lesson for me, as I had not collected any of these, I've never really worked on much more than the pump, mind I'm still happy to leave these to you Steve.

Thanks

Mathew

A Big Thank You

For another great weekend of good company and excellent food. The design and layout of the new facilities and the new kitchen/diner are stunning. Looking forward to the new time.
Ian
ps Glad to see my favourite top loader up and running, I couldn't believe how quickly Steve had it stripped down and then back together.

Holiday weekend

I can hardly believe that a week has gone by since I was saying "so long" to the last of my friends leaving after the weekend. Thanks to everyone who attended and put so much work in getting the additional space set up and the machines in place.

And just in case anybody wondered, the original washer room is still there - awaiting some repainting and more machines, hopefully with a larger variety of appliances - hopefully it will be ready in a couple of months or so.

Great to see John (combo52) again and also to meet Ken, it is so enjoyable to be able to share our knowledge of different machines from our respective countries.

And thanks also to everyone for another wonderful weekend - its the machines that brought us together, it is the fun, laughter and friendship that keeps us there.

Al

Can I ask what the older Miele pair are, and what the dryer sitting atop the newer Miele is?

Just goes to show, an outwardly unpromising house can still be made into something special with a bit of inspiration.
