Hopefully, this series will come out on DVD soon. I was a kid when it first aired and fell in love with Phyllis and her comedy style. Ive been a big fan and supporter ever since......

The video of the opening credits are listed on YouTube and have been posted here before........

Im also lucky to have a few of the episodes on VHS tape. They are still hilarious!

oh WHEW

When I read your subject line I was afraid we had lost another star and I hadn't heard about it yet.

There is no one on the planet funnier than Phyllis. Period.

She is an absolute genius of comedic timing.

Sad to say, I do not remember watching the Pruitts of Southhampton when it was on. And that's not surprising, as my mother did not "approve of her coarseness and vulgarity." So she probably did not let us watch the show.

btw she and Vacuum Cleaner Legend Stan Kann are very dear friends. All the time he lived in L.A., I was angling for a chance to meet her but it never happened.

I saw Phyllis Diller perform 4 or 5 years ago

She performed two shows at a local casino north of Minneapolis. The audience was great - either 60+ year old couples or gay men. Her act was straight out of the mid-60's. She made references to Warren Beatty, Liz Taylor, Richard Burton. She needed a little help getting on stage but there she stood - in her A-line shift, elf boots and wild hair. No cigarette stick. That laugh was the best - it was like sitting in my grandma's living room watching Hollywood Squares.

The Pruitts

I remember the Pruitts and loving that show as a kid. It didn't last long. Seems like nothing I like on TV ever does!

Phyllis is one of a number of comedians who spent their early days peforming at the Purple Onion in San Francisco. She's always been considered a local girl here in the Bay Area. Just the other day we were talking about Fang when imagining what it would be like to have Kathy Griffin prowling the local streets since it's rumored that she and Steve Wozniak are dating. It would be so great to hear her take on the Sillycon Valley scene and having Steve assume the Fang role in her routines. Marry him Kathy, marry him!

Another local girl, June Lockhart, it turns out is quite a kick as well. Who knew Lassie's mom was such a character?

Who doesn't like Phylis Diller?
A lot of people don't know it but she is also a classical concert pianist as well. She did a few tours and recitals with some of the major symphony orchestras back in the late 60's/70's.

I loved her TV shows, I don't know how they never made it.

It seemed that Phylis Diller spent a lot of time in Chicago. I saw her show at the Empire Room at The Palmer House back in the 70's. It was the show where she called up famous movie stars at home and made jokes with them onstage via a speaker phone. Just hilarious!

I remember one morning she was on WIND radio in Chicago during a snowstorm with host Howard Miller. They both were listing the school closings for that day due to the snow amongst the shows chit chat. The jokes she was cracking were just too much.
