A Perfect Fall Day in the Junkyard.............

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Back in the main driveway, a little farther down, we found this complete 40" Flair range, circa 1962. Rich and I together parted most of this out, for extra parts for the Flair I have in my kitchen........

Another "land locked" item, but interesting was this early 70's Kelvinator dryer. I had hoped that maybe the matching washer was in the yard somewhere, but none in sight.......

This place is really beyond belief. The eye just cannot take it all in at once, there is so much there. Being allowed access here is so much fun, even if just to browse.....

One other thing I found on the way in was this wonderful Singer Sewing Machine. Its very similar to a Singer FeatherWeight, I will get it cleaned up and tested after I unload all the parts Ive collected here today. Thanks to my good friend Rich Trainguy for letting me go with him to this great place......junkyards are the most fun!

Oh! that looks like fun

well that just looks like a great day out. I remember a scrap yard when I much smaller and the great wonder of all it's 'treasures'..I think I might have one bit to this day!!
I hope your nice washer will be good and of course I'd love to see pics of the happy restoration,
thanks for sharing your day!

That White-Westinghouse washer is a Dual-Tumble, early-90's vintage. Yes, they DID make them in a full-backsplash version!

Either that, or circa-1988 3-belt, right before the transition. That control panel looks WAY 90's though, especially the "wide" timer dial like on mine (a SpaceMates machine). They all had tub lights, but I'm not sure if the DT ever had a Weigh-To-Save door.

Jimmy it looks like you and Rich had a great day!! What neat machines. Glad that you had so much fun.

What was the model number on the 1-18 washer with the lighted control panel? I couldn't read all the dial selections, but it looks a lot like my WIC-A.

That looks like alot of fun! I like going to the junk yard to grab stuff for cars, but I really would like to find a yard near me that has old appliances! I have yet to find one!

I wish I was along for the fun. I can only imagine the thrill of finding something exciting around every corner. Glad you found a 1-18, and such a nice one. Hope it works with no problems. Can't wait to hear what was in the bottom of it.

What a beaut, that Kenmore dryer but I think I will loose sleep thinking about that poor Tappan range and GE refrigerator that didn't make it. :-0

Oh Heck Yes!!

I LOVE that fridge and would have taken that in a NEW YORK SECOND!!!!!!!!!!

I'm wanting to get something like that, repaint it and put it in our kitchen someday (once our current one bites the big one!)

Great find and THANKS FOR THE WONDERFUL PICTURES!!!!!:)
