Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

For years, I"ve searched for "Kenmore" "Kenmore washer" "Kenmore 800" "Lady Kenmore" to fruitless results. Now, I"m part of a site more fruity than imaginable. JUST KIDDING!!!!!!!

Actually, I searched for YEARS until I found THS. I lurked for a while then I posted about old washing machines. A user named Unimatic replyed and sent me links to his yahoo photos and then to www.classicappliances.com. I went to view his Yahoo photos and my EYES WERE OPENED. Finally I was validated. I wasn't the only one in the world who loved old washing machines. I joined Classic Appliances and the rest is history.

Oh and By the Way

Although I didn't like the word "creepy" as I never said that. The writer of the book had sort of twisted my words around.

I too found it through a Yahoo search for vintage vacuums. By far the very best thing I have every discovered on the internet. We can never thank you enough Robert!! Terry

Found this website back in about 2004, looked around it, and read the forums, but then lost the address to it, never found it again until 2005, when I just had to join.

I was overjoyed to find out I wasn't the only one into appliances. Since Joining have made good friends with sadose, lavamat_jon, newwave1, sparkcymru, and samsungfl.

Thank you so much for this website :-D

Take Care

Hmmmmm

If I remember correctly, I was trying to figure out what my mom's old washer was that buzzed and flew its lid open when done, scaring the heck out of me when I was a little kid. I think I Altavista'd "Vintage Washer" and got the site when it was Applianceville. Someone in one of the forums suggested what the washer was, then later I forgot. I looked the site up a year or two later, it had changed its name, and I regularly come here once, twice or more each day.

Curious, does anyone have a "automaticwasher.org routine"?

Mine is:

1) POD
2) Discuss-o-mat Super
3) Discuss-o-mat Imperial

It must be in that order, or it just isn't right!

I started at POD

and loved it. I had no idea the forum existed.

Then, eventually, I couldn't get to the POD from my bookmark, and I then emailed Robert. Didn't know him as "Robert," just knew him as "Webmaster."

I officially joined a few days later.

This is really one of my favourite sites. Ever.

I had seen the People Magazine interview with Chuck D many years ago, and was gratified to know I wasn't the only one.

I may be out of the closet, but no one is ever gonna get me out of the Utility Room!

Way back in 2002

I followed a link from another website that I came across while surfing the internet. The rest, as they say, is history! :-) (I've never been able to find the site that led me to hear again; I'm glad that I found it when I did.)

In May of 2005...

I was pursuing a flawed line of search looking for a new washer. I began with two ideas: 1.) My J.C. Penney/GE washer had run for 27 years with the only trouble being a seized pump which I replaced myself. 2.) I had read a lot of interesting stuff about front-load washers, and thought it might be cool to get one. So, I looked up GE front loaders. This line of inquiry took me (via Google) to THS, Epinions, and this site. I soon discovered that the GE models I was looking at (214 & 208, can't remember the prefixes right now) were part of the great heritage known as FridGEmore, and the most expensive part at that. Also that things had changed in the washer world since 1978 and I wasn't going to get 27 years out of the new machine. After reading everything I could find, and enduring a persistent lobby from a friend of mine with Maytag Neptunes, I selected the Kenmore 44092 which is the updated design with a 3.5 cu.ft. tub. I don't read Epinions any more. I look at THS maybe once a week. But I read this site every day and look forward to doing so.

However I did, I'm glad I found it!!

Found the site while flipping through a neighbor's magazine, possibly Advocate, I'm not sure. Been hooked ever since!

I'm still not sure what I like most: the information, the friends I've made, or the support they've given me.

Thanks Again.

I stumbled across the old Classic Appliances sight when I was searching for Filter Flo information back in 2001 or 2002. Like many others, I spent hours reading everything after having thought for so long that nobody else cared about this stuff.

HGTV

I was watching Decorating Cents and Joan Steffen was in Rober's basement. When I saw those machines I had a orga... er cow. I search on HGTV's website then did a yahoo search. Then found washing machine nirvina.

I Found it thru the OUT Magazine article

A friend of mine met me on the Christopher Street pier in NYC back in 2004 to sunbathe and he had the OUT magazine page open for me to see. He was like - "LOOK! - this is right up your alley!" because me knew i was interrested in old washers. I had that early 60's FF backsplash displayed in my kitchen and he was the only one who appreciated it. And i too became an addict - not only was I fascinated by the site but I was so moved to see that there were tons of others out there like me. It inspired me to look for the dream machines i now own - I'm so thrilled and thankful for this site and all the great people i've met thru it!

We certainly are a very unique and special bunch!

How I found this site

I was using a search engine to see how a Philco Automagic washer worked, agitate etc. It bought up "See It Wash". I set and went thru video clips for two days.

It's all history from there folks!

I now know that I am not alone with my fascination of washers!

LOVE THIS SITE MEN AND WOMEN!
