How did you discover this webpage/fourum?

For me, I was bored and searched "Washing Machine" on Google. A picture of a vintage Whirlpool washer appered, I clicked on the link and discovered this webpage.

Was searching for Hoover Convertible parts back in December 2003 when I stumbled across the site then known as Classic Appliances. Spent an entire night checking out the Cyber-Museum and watching videos afterward! Lurked for a while, then started posting in March 2004.

I belonged to an appliance

Collectors group that was not cyber and printed a quarterly
news letter.I don't remember how I discovered that one, but in the second year I participated, the publisher "profiled"
Robert "unimatic" Seger and the rest is history!

How I discovered this site

I was trawling through the internet one day (cannot remember when),searching for information on washers and came upon one of the forums through a link and was exceptionally happy to have found it.
Cheers.
Steve.

Lets try to remember...

I found the site first from a link somewhere. The next time I tried to come back, I forgot what this site was called untill Jon (lavamat_jon) told me I needed to join. So I did.

June 28, 2005

I did an MSN photo search and typed in GE Washer. I was referred to this site and classicappliances.com which evidently no longer exists. I joined about three weeks later.

Bored at work one day...

and typed into Google the words Frigidaire 1-18 and up popped a link to the old Yahoo site. I lurked there for a long time and then joined this site when it was born. Funny though that my 'member since' date seems to have changed, probably after an update. I am now collecting more things than I ever thought possible.

Jeff Lefever started a Yahoo Group about Classic Appliances somewhere in the late 90's. When I searched the Yahoo groups for washers it came up and I joined. I was the second member. Some months later the Yahoo Club was founded (I think by Jeff too) and I joined that too. It was an active group and on that group the basis was laid for the first convention. Shortly before the first convention this website was launched. And ofcourse I joined immediately (May 2001).

The old Yahoo Club (as a Group, the Yahoo Clubs were transformed to Groups/mailing lists) as still exists and has about 500 members. Lately their main topic seems to be stoves.

Surfing at work years ago

I cannot remember what I was looking for but found this site and its been one of the greatest pleasures around. Nice people, fun machines, good support. A big big Thank you to Uni the web master for keeping this all up and going. One of these days I will be able to break away from the south and make it to one of the conventions

I first found the site classic appliance site back in... ummmm, must be 2001 or 2002. Been lurking/posting on THS for the same amount of time; but became more active on here once again where the system of separate forums for vintage/modern/misc etc were set up. Only had this user name since being on here though, so it looks like I haven't been hanging around as long as I have been!

I have to say if it wasn't for this site, I wouldn't have made so many good friends both within the UK and outside the UK.

It seems I have been converting people to post here! Robert, do I get a prize? *looks at your AW6 in hope*

Moved over from the Yahoo Group in 5/2001

I was memeber at the old Yahoo group. I collect Pre WWII vacuum cleaners but, my second passion is old washers, dryers and, especially, dishwashers. I had belonged to 3 or 4 Yahoo vacuum groups discovered the YAHOO appliance group thru that.

Gosh! Where has the time gone?? Lots of good memories, laughs and discussions.

Best to All,

Bob
