I decided enough was enough with the cheap iron ive been using lately that hardly steams and while Mums nabbed off with my Steam Generator I dedcided to give a new Iron ago.

Im loving this, the Rowenta Effectiv El Cheapo £20 from Asda.

Steams really well at 25g a min, better than the Tefals, Morphy Richards and Philips ive used over the years and strangley better than the Rowenta Professional I had coupla years ago.

Forgot to mention it regualates heat very well and heats pretty fast.

Not had it any lower than 2 dots and its not dripped either on the full steam setting.

Shane Id never ever have anything but a Rowenta when it comes to a corded iron now, they are the best.

Sole cleaning!

Nick, set your iron to high heat, no steam, and once it reaches the set temperature rub the sole with a white wax candle. Then immediately "iron" a brown paper bag. Repeat as many times as necessary. This should clean your sole, LOL!

Nick, try cleaning the soleplate with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, if those are available in the UK. My Rowenta had some mystery goo baked onto the soleplate, and the Magic Eraser wiped it off like it was nothing! It sure beat buying the $12 cleaning kit that Rowenta sells.

Why it was a freebie .......

Tefal have a great procedure for damaged/faulty products- the rep credits them and we bin them-if you look the casing has a broken bit of plastic, it was credited for this so I rescued it :)
