Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

OMG!

It's a Penncrest Automatic Corn Popper, and it looks like it's ready for launch into low-Earth orbit!

Complete with genuine Teflon coating, it's a thermostatically controlled masterpiece that pops every kernel to perfection, and then inverts for serving!

Talk about a countertop objet d'art! And, complete with Orville Redenbacher's popcorn and oil! Wow!!

"Popping and topping" oil. Hmmmm.

So very color coordinated, those O.R. containers!

It appears the box took a good hit on that one bottom corner.  I'm glad the glass survived.

Looks like movie night will be happening soon in the Marler household!

Can't wait to hear what you think of how it pops!

The box and the label logo are just adorable - the good old days of Penneys. I don't really recall much with the Penncrest name on it, they had moved on to just JCPenney by then.

Now let's find the matching washer and dryer!

Now you need to switch out all of your kitchen appliances to ones that are Poppy Red to match your new popcorn popper.

Things are funny how they happen...

I saw this post and then during one of my calls, I saw this! Bring back any memories, anyone? I'm surprised it survived intact for so long...

P.S. thank you Robert for making it so my iPad 3 pictures post correctly!

That is one PerfectPenncrestPopper!!!

Roto204, I added your link the "P" in Penneys to thread number 47922. It is a thread titled "The Department Store Museum".  Moparwash started the thread, your link just fits in so well. The link is so nice with stories about Penneys', HoJo, and other memorabable places.  I love  your new Penncrest Popper.  Thank You!  alr2903

:-D

From your lips to God's ears, Greg!

Hey, the Hotpoint (still Hotpoint, big door, big drum, not GE) dryer to match your Lady Administrative Associate is at the Miracle Center here. Shall I fetch? :-)

David wants me to see "Boondock Saints." I guess I need to expand my cultural repertoire.

*forehead slap* You're so right, Doug! We saw a Westinghouse "Open Sesame" can opener (looks like it belongs in the MoMA) today, but it was in lime green, and we have to have some concordance in the kitchen. ;-) (Plus so many cans have pop-tops today, it takes the fun out of it.)

Ralph, those accoutrements do coordinate--thank you!! :-D

Andy, I wonder if we can build one of those modular homes out of that trailer--I wouldn't paint the exterior! And I'd send photos to Ralph. Maybe we can find one for him that advertises Brand Central to balance things out.

alr2903, thanks for adding the link! I thought the development notes were just too fun. Too bad they can't go back to this logo, or revive it, but it doesn't seem to align with their image these days. It seemed to go better with their full-line stores.

Greg, I think Penncrest only ran maybe through the early seventies--once they adopted the Helvetica JCPenney logo in 1971 after James Cash Penney's death, the Penncrest moniker phased out, because, I suppose, they wanted to retire the P branding. I too remember stuff only being badged as "JCPenney" when Penneys still had hard-lines. (And oh, the emptiness of that section of the store when it all disappeared and was filled in with...draperies?)
