Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

WOW!  Our family had that washer!!  It was bought in fall of 1973 to replace a 1963 or 64 GE V-12 which started spitting oil on clothes.  The neanderthal GE technician said 'It's not worth fixing, 'cause I gotta smash the agitator to get it out'.   We had just finished building a garage (that's a tradition in our family - buy a house then build a garage... LOL)  and cash was tight.  My father was an ex-Eaton employee and was eligible to shop at the 'bargain store' in the Montreal distribution centre - it later became one of the first 'scratch and dent' department store clearance centres to open to the public in the Montreal region.  I remember we got that washer for $175 which my father declared 'Ziss Wiking vasher is good deal, yes'.

As fate would have it, my mother fell very ill later that fall, so I became the 'domestic engineer' at home.  I used that machine more than anyone else in the family did - it wasn't hard 'cause I wouldn't let them near it... LOL

The machine lasted until 1990 when my father's dingbat girlfriend at the time decided to try washing a king-size comforter in it...

What memories!!

Still going

My mother in law has this same set, to this day. It smells a bit rank inside, cuz she keeps the lid closed, even though I've suggested otherwise. My sister in laws LG FL died, and she has been using these machines until she decides on a new one. These machines are doing double duty!
