A very cute birthday cake!

Yesterday I was having a video chat with my friend in the Philippines. As we were chatting, without warning, he turned the camera around and surprised me with this awesome little cake he had commissioned. His cousin's, husband's, sister is the "artist" and as you can see, does very impressive work!

I have no idea who the guy is (because I don't have that much hair, LOL), but my black lab Westy is sitting there too, so cute! Needless to say, I was quite surprised and impressed by this! I wanted to share because I KNOW you would enjoy it too! As for the size, the base is 12 or 13 inches across.

That's an AWESOME cake!!!  The detail is just amazing.  Is anyone really going to eat this piece of art, or will it be preserved in some way???

Lawrence: Yes it's so awesome I would hate to cut into it too, but they did cut into it and enjoy it.  

 

Tom: The "washing machine" is fondant over 5 layers of chocolate cake with chocolate icing.  I would imagine all of the "laundry" is fondant.  "Me" and "Westy" are probably fondant, or perhaps modeling chocolate?  Unfortunately don't know for sure as it's 7300 miles away.

 

Jim: Yes it was a VERY nice surprise!
