A very interesting Twin Tub from Eastern Europe

I teenager in Serbia found my videos on YouTube and has been sharing info on washing machines over there and sending me links to videos of Russian built washers, etc.   This was a related video for one link he sent and it's a VERY interesting design, I've NEVER seen anything like it!

Hi Kevin, nifty little thing isnt it...that washtub must be lower than a Hotpoint, (think nearly on the floor getting to the bottom of the tub) I thought why is he using the tongs but unless you want a cricked back its a good idea.....Heres a similar one showing the spinwater returning to the washtub, assume you would have to complete all washloads then rinse & spin!!

Those are just the neatest little things! As I was telling Kevin, I'd call it a "uni-tub" but it's an interesting idea for sure. Be mindful of hands!

If that machine was sold here in the US-would think the top would have to be interlocked so the spin drum wouldn't turn with the lid open.Fascinating machine-just be careful while running it-someone using common sense should have no problems.Love the strange "worm gear" agitator.Whats with the tongs-is the water too hot for hands?

I somehow know that machine. I think I had a brochure of it or something. IIRC the same machine was sold in (eastern?) Germany too.

Interesting and scary at the same time...

A machine like this today would be heaven to the lawyers. The outer part of the spin tub can be used as a cheese grater hahahahahah

Here in Brazil a woman sued Nestlé because she wasn't careful while opening a can of milkmaid condensed milk and hurted herself. Unbeliveable but.... she won!

A few years ago, a kid lost his arm in an Electrolux front loader. The machine was without the door glass (I still don't know how they could break that ultra thick glass) and the user found a way to use it to spin only. Of course electrolux was considered guilty and had to pay MILLIONS to the kid's family. According to the law, manufacturers have to be guess what happens to machines even almost 15 years they left the factory. They are responsible forever, even if it's a 50 years old machine launched before the safety standards! Maybe Electrolux should hire Walter Mercado or create a tarot department. LOL

By the way, if someone is walking with bare feet on the street and step on a broken bottle of coca-cola, guess who can be sued... Welcome to Brazil!

Agitator

One would have thought that with that agitator/pulsator thingie it would be a nightmate of tangling - but then I suppose the wash tub would not actually accomodate that much washing. That said, i imagine it would have been much prized, for even with its small capacity and limitations, it would still be a big improvement on handwashing and mangling clothes.
