Instant Westy Kitchen! Just Add Pleasure!

Wow! That "Like" there is from me!  Even though the fridge & dishwasher are very BOL (much like what my "ain't" had in her appartment--harvest gold & all w/ a low-broiler Caloric gas range) that range at least isn't; maybe lacking a window, but at least has timed-bake & it self-cleans!

Betty Furness (& Charles Klamkin--my appliance hero!) definitely to a heart's delight (Mine, too!)...!

They must be from a seldom-used vacation property. The range top has seen surface unit replacements, but the oven looks like new. The range seems to be an odd builders' model: an unterraced terrace top. I had a refrigerator like that in my place in Annandale. It kept stuff cold.

In all Honesty, but in being Devil's Advocate:

Only logical reason could be that the fridge needs to be more "deluxe" in that one would like more drawers, bins 'n' shelves--particularly one in the freezer; remember my small GE in the apartment--but the lack of was sometimes fun "stacking", as long as everything didn't fall out... And perhaps, larger capacity...

The dishwasher obviously looks like it doesn't do more than dishes, silverware & maybe utensils, too--so something to also wash pots & pans!

As for the range, the coil top elements have long given way for the (let's face it) more desirable smooth-top, right down to even a classic range being less desirable, as ceramic tops have come a long-way towards improvements in heating better and being sort of easier to keep clean...  But the coil-tops are still lamented and missed... I've had three 6" and one 8" and found myself as able to easily utilize as most do w/ two + two, of each...

Surely the simpler automatic baking and the self-cleaning are what you praise this range for having especially compared to today's products, both give much more better results, as does the baking and broiling...

Otherwise, I wish the seller good luck as I do the buyer; that one Harvest Gold fan out there, should surely still be easy to come by...

The church I belong to bought two new GE ranges last year to replace the old Vulcan restaurant range (electric). These have smooth tops, and they are a pain to use and clean. My major complaint is that the large burners are all in front, and when using large pots the back units are very difficult to reach, as are the controls. They also take longer to clean, as anything spilled cooks on.

I would imagine it is more the color than anything else. I don't know why you would think that the dishwasher would not wash pans. For its size, the frostless refrigerator does what it is supposed to do and the range has as many features as were available with a MOL self cleaning oven model. The oven liner looks like new and those are the nice offset racks that were WH premiums. Some people thought colors in appliances were smart but, all things being equal, white generally holds its value longer. Stainless steel and black will join these 70s colors soon.

I've had my smooth top stove for 9-10 years and it still looks as good as it did when I got it. I find it is very easy to keep clean. When anything spills over I clean it up right away and then after it has cooled down I wash it with soap and water and then shine it up with one of those smooth top polishes.

Well, I do prefer the tried-and-true ordinary rod-type elements, on an electric range, myself, though I mainly am a gas guy--and really find it hard to take off my nearly-singular-three-piece grating off my stove to clean & retrieve spilled food/items...

This is a nice set & well, although for a cottage, apartment or rental property, it's from back when even a Builder Special meant dignity and class--surely something today no Hope Depot or Lowe's or what's left of Sears can give you...

If one examines the floor if the kitchen where appliances are located it all makes sense. The color of appliances coordinates totally with that pattern of flooring; saw this time and time again during the 1970's. *LOL* Indeed when Grandmama had her kitchen redone and those aforementioned Westinghouse appliances installed yes, they matched her new floor.

Though not up everyone's street today shades of avocado green, harvest gold, Tuscan red, brown and other earth tones were all the rage in 1970's.
