Don't know if anyone has used U-ship lately or at all but things seemed to have changed. Well at least since the last time one used the service a few years ago.

U-ship seems to have tightened up things a bit and gotten shot of or attempting to control fly by night cowboys. For one thing they have instituted something called "U-Ship" payments. When you accept a bid from a shipper you pay the amount requested (bid plus U-Ship service fees) at once and it goes into sort of an escrow and you are given a code. Once the item has been delivered you either surrender the code to shipper or log into your account to release the funds. If there are problems such as damage, fail to deliver etc... you take it up with U-ship.

However there is this bit; if after accepting a shippers bid for some reason there is a cancellation you only get back part of the payment (shipper's bid) as credit to your CC or Paypal account. The U-ship fees IIRC are credited to your U-ship account as a credit for use later.

There are other changes and details that one hasn't read up upon totally. But it is clear those considering using U-Ship need to exercise caution when accepting bids. That is you cannot or should not accept a bid just as a place saver then try to back out later. Or be sure you are dealing with a upstanding seller of whatever that will cooperate with the U-ship arrangement.
