I discovered this film while looking through "educational films" on YouTube.
Produced by the Edison Electric Institute it features just about every electric appliance for the home in 1952.
You'll see the range, refrigerator, electric sink (dishwasher and disposer), freezer, washer, dryer, iron, vacuum cleaner, mixer - and more!
A young man's fancy - romance or engineering and efficiency?
You be the judge!
Enjoy!

Boy,

They really covered the bases.
GE Fridge, Unimatic Washer, Disposer, Hotpoint Dishwasher, I think the Hot Water heater could have been a Universal, stumpt on the range, Was the Freezer a Philco ?

I hope Alex bangs the pizza out of Judy. What a whiney pain in the ass !!!

I liked the movie. Those were the days. All those beautiful appliances made right here in the Good Ol' U.S.A.

ok here is what the appliances were in A Young Man's Fan

General Electric Refrigerator

Philco Freezer

Crosley Range

Hotpoint Dishwasher

Water Heater Unknown (doubt it was Universal though as the electric Iron in the opening scene is Universal and they did not seem to duplicate brands. I am betting it is a HeatMaster)

Vacuum Cleaner Lewyt

Iron Universal

Washer and Dryer at Sally's House Westinghouse.....Patrick Coffey

The mixer appeared to be a Kitchenaid, didn't quite see what dads electric razor was.

What sort of surprised me though was them having an electric dishwasher and no electric dryer.. I think, maybe I'm wrong, that more people had a dryer long before they had a dishwasher.

After the film I googled all the "stars" Seems like brother Bob (Hazen Gifford) was a Newfie. Either he left at a very young age or he did a good job of covering up his accent.. Heck my other halfs been out of Nfld for near 40 years and you can still tell he's from there LOL

ROFL!!!

My dad had the same refrigerator in his stores office. Brought back a lot of memories. Thanks for posting!

And then Solid sorta ClackClunk ?

Oh Yeah, That Judy ... Zheeesh !!! Oh Alex is this, Oh, Alex is that, Oh Alex is such a bookworm... Hey Judy, Be real Careful. Alex just may Bend you over and drive ya to Newark !!!

If you Google Mystery Science Theater 3000, A young man's fancy, You Tube, you will see this video pop up again with their commentary. I was laughing so hard I was crying. I was wet everywhere.

more people had a dryer long before they had a dishwasher.

The premise of the film is they moved into a new house with the updated modern conveniences. Or they remodeled and mother didn't see the need of a dryter immediately until daughter's friends mothers had dryer and electric ironer lol.

Yeah, I remember that sound very well. My aunt had a '51 GE 2 door. Those handles were heavy! You can make 3 LG's out of them.

@Louis

I've been living in the BayState for almost 40 years,

Still can't shake the "Jersey" out of me.

We had a GE Freezer Top similar to that. Cold ??? Always. Enamel Interior was beautiful. What a great Fridge.
