When buying my parents house from them a Maytag a104 was left behind. As far as I know we have had this since I was 12, I am now 29, with talking with my mom she said the only thing needing repair was a belt. However about a week ago there was a leak that started in the bottom back left corner of the machine, i figure its a small leak i can live it for now, but then today after two loads the thing shut off and since then it hasnt turned back on. Anyone have any guess as to what it could be?

A little more information...

Is this a Center-Dial Maytag? IF I am right (and I may not be) the leak may be an easy fix. In the back left corner of the machine, at the top, there is the injector. This is a system of tubes that fills the tub with water. Other people here are much more knowledgeable than me, but I think you clean some tubes and maybe replace 1 or two (not expensive) to fix the leak.

As for the non-functioning washer, did a circuit breaker flip or did a GFCI trip? Let it dry out for a few days and try turning on the washer in the spin cycle. This will test if the motor turns on without any water coming in contact with the washer at all.

Please wait for someone else to reply before taking my advice, however.

Good luck,
Dave
