Extra wires
My apologies - I was mistaken earlier when I stated that the wire harnesses were the same for both the pre-permanent press A606 and the permanent press A606. The wire harness for the pre-permanent press A606 is part number 2-3233. For the permanent press A606, the wire harness is 2-4475. You are seeing one of the differences now (the 3S jumper.)
Your extra "35" wire is actually marked 3S and on the Permanent Press timer, it is used for fabric (speed) control and jumps from the 3S terminal over to the 32 terminal on the other side of the timer. On the pre-permanent press timer, the 3S terminal does not exist, so you can just tape over the end of the 3S wire terminal on the jumper with electrical tape.
The YL/BK 16 wire is what delivers power to the timer motor and ultimately (through the timer contacts on the pre-permanent press timer) to the motor. This occurs once the water level switch determines the tub is filled to the desired level. So if it is disconnected, that explains why both the timer motor and the main motor are not getting power.
On the pre-permanent press timer, the YL/BK 16 wire should connect to a double terminal on the timer where one of the black wires from the timer motor is connected. It may be marked both TM and 16.
There may be other differences between the harnesses that we haven't caught yet. It is always best to try and get the correct timer in these situations.
Why Maytag didn't rename the 06 models when they added permanent press is unknown to me, but it can certainly lead to confusion when ordering parts.
