Hey all, just got a set of Maytags and my A700 motor seems to be bad. The failure mode is that it spins up in the spin cycle and stops after a few seconds. Humming is heard and then a click after several more seconds, then the cycle repeats. I pulled the motor and it appears to be an original GE. The rotor brushes seemed to be pretty rusted and the case was pretty hot after a minute or so. I've seen some listings online about replacements, but I'm not 100% on these. Was hoping you folks might shed some more light.

Thanks!

Bad Maytag Motor ?

If the motor runs properly in the wash and rinse mode you do not have a bad motor.

As others have already suggested the clutching belt system on MTs is fussy at times and you could've a bearing problem or other problem in the drive system which might make it impossible for he motor to get the washers tub spinning.
