While not appliance-related, this website has photographs of abandoned architecture in America. Perhaps some of the photos have appliances in them. Looks like some of these buildings were not even cleaned out before the last person shut the door. The homepage has changing images, so standby for the abandoned T cars in the woods.

Great Site.

But I get so sad when I see all those abandoned Mills, Power Plants, Hospitals etc.

Especially the Mills and Factories. To think these buildings provided jobs and everyone was working. And now they are just rotting away. No one has a job or can't get one. Good Lord, what has happened here in the US.

Before watching it I ask how many of the pics have been took in Detroit?????
I wish I could put a "LOL" at the end of the question, but it doesn't make laugh....minimally...because this is the mirror of the USA....

Anyway, I always loved since a young kid visiting abandoned places, and only me and a few others of the "mystery club" I created while at elementary school knows all the things and missed troubles we escpaed from and went through...so I appreciate and enjoy the mistery of the places since always.
Actually,aside from the mistery and that "something" and feeling emotion abandonded places and their history transmit you , abandoned homes also were full of vintage items, magazines and stuff I usually brought home, in a few cases even appliances....
I often entertain myself on youtube on various channels about abandoned places....
There are youtube channels about abandoned houses/also haunted as for ghost towns throughout USA and especially midwest....
I love watching them.....

Those pictures remind me of the sister transmitter site to the one I work at now.The other plant was closed in 2005.It hasn't been "abandoned" yet-still owned by the gov't and utilities still operational.The cooling and heat have been shut off.The paint on the walls is peeling.Mold and mldew taking its place.Same with the transmitters-whats left.We have been using them for parts to keep our others at the place I am at working.Heat exchangers have ruptured from freezing.What the fate will be is unknown-and how long will the plant I am at be still open?I will find out!
Other abandoned sites I look at are-these are on YouTube-"Unknown cameraman","Tiki Trek","Adam the Woo","Decay is Headed Your Way".It is sad seeing these-you wonder Who worked or lived in these places.Some of the videos are sort of creepy-esp when the cameraman is going thru and old hospital or insame asylam.There are also some abandomed movie theaters on these-projectors and other equipment still there-could be cleaned up and used!But the theater chairs are screens are removed,broken,or slashed-graffited.If folks want to explore these places---Please NO vandalism or graffitti!

I think ghost towns must be something unique to USA, although there are plenty of places in other countries where the empty buildings outnumber the occupied ones. I suppose the rate of deterioration is largely tied up to the type of roof structure, corrugated asbestos is one of the most durable types of roof, shingle is probably the least durable. There are a lot of abandoned houses in the small village in Croatia where I recently bought a house. I've not been tempted to explore any of them, as you would need to fight your way through a jungle of weeds and bushes just to get near them.

Scott Haefner also takes similar photos and has been on the program called Forgotten Planet. It's a collaboration between Discovery Channel, Sony and IMAX called 3 Net Studios. I saw his pictures years ago but recently discovered him on this program carried on Netflix.

alr2903--another great site for abandoned property.

Within that site is the York St. Jail here in Springfield, Mass. It has since been torn down, after efforts by the city to sell it. There was a large sign "Jail For Sale" visible from the adjacent Rt. 91.

The empty lot did serve a purpose, however. After the June 2011 tornado hit Springfield, the lot became a convenient dumping ground for all the trees and branches that had to be cleared.

Springeild,Mass-that is vaguely famaliar to me--My Grandmother and Grandfather used to live there-when I was little-used to spend the summer with them!!The world is small!!!I beleive one of my cousins now lives in the house after the grandparents died.
