Chuck and I were out flea marketing this weekend and we stopped at a little yard sale that I remembered Kenmore58 had spoken about several years ago. He told me that there was an old washer in the barn. SO...I approaced the table of stuff (very small yard sale) and the owners asked what my interests are. I told them that I was interested in old appliances and anything laundry related. One of the ladies said "I have just the thing for you...Follow me!" She took me into this very old barn and in this dark corner was an ABC-O-Matic. Just as it has been sitting for the last 50 years (so she says). We had to move a large hay wagon and heavy tractor equiptment and test fate by walking on floors that look and feel as though they will give way at any time but we got to it!!

A deal was struck and I now have to go back to pick it up.

Is there anything that I need to be aware of to safely transport this little gem? I'm going to have to lay it down since I don't have a pick-up truck.

What should I do when I get it home? Check hoses general cleaning...???? I don't know if it works as there is no electricity in this very old barn but the machine looks to not have been abused. It's very dirty but very few little rust spots. This was the best I could see with only a flashlight.

I look forward to hearing what to do so as to not do any damage. I will get pictures when we pick it up. Ya gotta see where this thing is!

Thanks in advance for all of your wisdom :-)

Hey Peter, Would love to have you up here again!! It's been too long :-)

Todd, We do want to make sure that this is transported the correct way so if the experts say the word then we'll try to arrange for a truck. Thanks for the advice :-)

Hi John, Yes, we are talking about the automatic model from the late 40's-early 50's?. Not sure of the age but I'm giving a good guess. This is like the one that Robert has but without the window. I seem to remember that it only has a controll dial on the right front top corner. We will not be picking it up for a couple of weeks so it will take time for us to get pictures.

Ooops...I didn't see you sneek in :-)

"How come no preliminary pics?"...We didn't have a camera with us and the barn was opened just for us while the owners were having a yard sale.
