Where is Aberdeen Farm located?

It only exists any longer in memories .....

.... but it was in South Dakota at the time, IIRC.

It was located in Aberdeen, South Dakota. It has now been cleared. The early pictures you see of that Farm were taken over 10 years ago now. It was an amazing place when I first discovered it to say the least, I have such wonderful memories of that place that I will never forget.

Why did they clear it? There are no good junkyards anymore. I used to love to go through them. Recycleing should start with people being able to utilize the thing in its present form prior to crushing and making yet another H2.

I didn't see the "farm" until they had cleared 2/3 of it in '02. Even then, after most of the really old stuff had been cleared and baled for scrap, it was like a wonderland. This was a pile near the entrance, somewhere I have pics of the bales of crushed appliances - sad, but scrap prices were high (as they are now) and the money was welcome by the owners, I'm sure.

Where at? Id love to go.

We used to have good ones here but the stupid women in the stupid sub divisions call and complain if the farmers are haying past nine pm. Not kidding about that one. Where do these people come from? Id rather live next to a farmer with crops than another house anyday. They have eliminated the junkyards, anything with character and now we have these stupid fire stations every so many miles and mini strip malls with 12.98 coffees. UrG!! I hate sprawl!

It's about halfway between Fort Wayne, and South Bend. The owner is an 80 YO man,who's as spry as someone half his age should be. Just a great guy to talk to. Rick bought a couple of washers, and I bought some garden tractors he had. Didn't give much for 'em.
Pictures can't do justice to this place. Rick can attest, it's IMPOSSIBLE to see everything that's there, because of the sheer amount of stuff that's laying around. And the owner attends auctions weekly, and is buying MORE!

Yes They ARE still Around, But....

you have to do lots of work to find them. But once you stake a claim, it was well worth the effort.

I used to send out 100 inquiries a month - one complete roll of stamps. I maybe got 5 responses and sometimes none of them panned out.

Sounds like FUN! I love wandering though those places. Old barns and abandoned houses too!

If im lucky enough to make it to 80 im gonna still be buying too!
