Help Support :

There is a small town in Texas called Little Hope, I drove through it when I was a kid. The church I saw was named Little Hope Baptist Church - certainly inspires confidence, doesn't it?

EGADS!!!

Its Wisconsin Synod too!!! Women on the right, men on the left, no smiling now, and Ladies, please keep your hats and little white gloves on for the worship service!

Once years back...

I was riding my motorcycle around rural central Missouri. I passed through a small town named Bland. At the border, along with the Kiwanis, Rotary, etc., was a sign that read:

"The Bland Churches Welcome You".

Odd signs

Church signs are not the only ones that can be funny or strange. There used to be a guy in Atlanta that sold flowers on a specific street corner of a busy interesction. His sign read:Tom's Flowers;"Get Some Tonight"

He worked down the street from a strip club that had a sign with an arrow pointing to the back of the building that read: "Discreet S&M in the rear"

My favorite was a sign on a Taylor's shop, owned by a Chinese fellow, that read: "Ladies may have fits upstairs"

good intentions

When the artist Eric Sloan was making a living as a sign painter he was fired from a theatre because of the sign he painted to draw a crowd in. The threatre had a musical organ that rose from below the stage. A prominent organist was going to give a saturday afternoon concert for the small town. Sloan wanted to paint a sign that would draw attention to the special musical organ the theatre had. His sign read: COME AND WATCH JOHN SMITH PLAY ON STAGE, COME EARLY AND WATCH HIS ORGAN RISE! Sloan didn't understand why he was fired.

we did this one at my church:

Last summer, in the midst of a 90+ degree heatwave our sign read:

Hotter than HELL??? NOT EVEN CLOSE!

I saw one church sign that apparently was promoting dental hygiend. It read

BE TRUE TO YOUR TEETH
OR THEY'LL BE FALSE TO YOU

Attn. Jeff Parker,

There is an old saying in our family: Wherever there are 2 or 3 good Lutherans, there is always a 1/5th.

polka nut

ROFL!!!!

I could go for a couple of belts of that 1/5!

I'm chairmain of the organ committee, that 5th would take the edge off!
