diagrams

I found diagrams on my old A606 outer wash tub and in the console of the A882.

for ref there are copies on this site

Downstream side of thermal sw = white wire
Start winding = blue & yel wire single speed, red and brown on 2spd
L1 Hot lead = via a blk wire for single speed, a yellow wire for 2spd.
Fast winding tap = red for single speed, blk for 2spd
Slow winding tap = orange for 2 spd.

See how things can get mixed up?

Closeup of panel with switch on top.
I thought that if I eventually found a "real" speed switch from a panel I could grommit cap the hole here on top better. Then I'd put the real sw where it belongs on the front, there's a cutout for it inside already. For now the machine has a toggle on the top.

Needed switch 206217

I'll be looking for a speed sw pn 206217.

I may also play around with the ratcheting agitator some more.

Next job is replacing the input shaft on my A606 transmission.

If I am not mistaken...

the corkscrew agitator is only supposed to ratchet when the water level is above medium that is why it's real name is the Load Sensor agitator.....I could be wrong though.....qsd-dan can you confirm or deny my claim???? PAT COFFEY

Using Load Sensor after tweaking it a bit

I'd tried washing with the load sensor agitator but then removed it because it wouldn't ratchet very well. I worked on it a bit yesterday to see if I could free up the ratcheting.

First I flushed it out, upside down with a hose of hot water. Some gunk came out, and after a while it seemed to ratchet more easily. Then I sprayed some silicon lube, and some slick50 into the ball ratchet section, still upside down, and that seemed to help as well.

With the top corkscrew section down it doesn't turn well, but lift up a bit on this part and it turns better. That's the load sensor part I suppose. If I am correct, the corkscrew portion has a chamber in it that is supposed to float in the higher water, lifting the corkscrew up off a braking joint so it can ratchet. Clothes pressing against it also allows the screw to climb up the clothes, again energizing the ratchet mechanizm. I notice the silicon bead around the top bulkhead of mine is peeling slightly, so I may also try sealing it with some RTV in case the chamber is intended to be air tight.

(anyone have one of these apart? PN 22001821)

I compared the LS to the older agitator and I find the fins about the same size, the older agitator is about 3/8" greater diameter, 3/8" greater extension radially of the fins. Other than that they are surprisingly similar.

I find less vigorous mixing of the water/laundry with the newer agitator on "regular" speed. We usually use gentle on the older A606, the regular agitation is too vigorous especially on lower water loads. So getting a gentler action on regular is a good thing for us. (Plus I now have a 2 speed - so a gentle with the LS agitator is really gentle.)

I'll be using the load sensor agitator, knowing that a longer wash times may be needed for some loads because of the less vigorous agitation.
