Hi all, I have always wanted a Dyson Contrarotater, just because they're unusual and they're Dyson!

I managed to find one locally, a CR02 Flowcheck, the white one. It is in relatively good shape, needs a clean. The outer door was off, so I reattached it, and it didn't seem to want to lock. A spray of WD40 in the latch worked a treat. The machine runs as smooth as a nut, even rather quiet. However it does make rather a racket when doing its party piece. It's almost like a grating sound, but it doesn't appear to be struggling.

I have found a local engineer on eBay who sells and repairs. I daren't take this apart. Could it be the gearbox that's gone?

I paid £60 for it, so not sure if it's a bargain yet

I'm amazed you managed to find one that still has the contrarotator (did i spell that correctly?) still working! They always were noisy when in this mode.

There's a whole group of over 300 ex engineers and Dyson owners on Facebook, look under 'Dyson CR01 repairs' they'll tell you everything you need to know.

Thanks all, I found a seller on eBay who repairs and restores them, so I'll do that. I don't want to pull it apart.

I know it makes a whining noise, but the noise is loud, like a scraping sound. Only when it's on contrarotator, it's as sweet as a nut otherwise. The spin is relatively quiet and stable, like our Miele
