Advice on purchase of new Food Processor

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

My experiences are the same as others. My old Robot Coupe is still working just fine. I have a newer Cuisinart that has the PITA snap-on lid. As reported it is hard to keep clean and makes a simple job a hassle.
I have a friend who has a Black & Decker, I use when visiting Atlanta. The build quality is cheap and the machine is LOUD! It does not do a very good job at simple chopping.

I have the Kitchenaid shredder, but mine is the newer version (with a round clear feeder)

It works great, specially for hard cheese, HOWEVER, it`s a pain to clean (the main part isn't dishwasher safe. (And my husband does an excellent job washing it)

This week I bought the 3 piece pasta roller/cutter set (now I regret I didn't buy the 5-piece "gourmet" model but at least KA sells the two other cutters separately), the all metal meat grinder (zillions of times better than the plastic one and almost like the vintage one my mom had back in Brazil), the pasta drying rack and two nights ago I coincidently found the silly citrus juicer at Walmart with the price so ridiculous that I couldn't resist.

Now the only accessory I still want for my mixer is the pasta press.

In the last two weeks I also bought a KA blender (diamond jar, 5 speed) and a personal coffee maker.

I had a small but annoying rattling noise with my mixer and contacted Kitchenaid just to be surprised with their after sales service. The attendant was really friendly (and spoke perfect English). The model I have Darryl bought at Sears, on clearance and it was super cheap. Unfortunately (or fortunately) that model was discontinued. The attendant said he's really sorry for no longer having the same model to make a replacement, so he asked me to visit KA.com and choose WHATEVER other model except the commercial model that has a metal safety gate (Of course I chose the TOL model that had the Empire red color available)

Also, to compensate the "distress" of having to choose a TOL model that they would send for free, they asked me to choose between a toaster (the new model), an electric kettle or a 9-speed electronic control hand blender that will be sent for free. I got the toaster only to get rid of a "El Cheapo" whatever-brand-so-crappy-that-I-don't-even-remember toaster i have in my kitchen (I think it's Mainstrays or Rival or whatever $8 Wallmart junk.)

They also offered me 25% off on my next Kitchenaid order, comulative with the 25% off coupon i have in the system because I registered the mixer. So my next KA product will be 50% off.

Now I want the 14 cup food processor with dicing kit (just to match the other KA small appliances I have; obviously empire red as now all my countertop appliances are KA.

Hey! Christmas is almost there and I was a good boy this year. Somebody? Anybody? Not that I'm asking but if somebody (for example my husband or our best friend that is also in this forum) wants to be really nice and generous and decides to give me a gift, I'm not too picky, but it has to be exclusively the model KFP1466ER.

I have the Cuisinart DLC-21

It's more of a chopper than a food processor, but it comes in really handy for chopping all of my taco fixin's (usually, I make tacos weekly) among other things. The only thing that I don't like about it is that the bowl could be sturdier, as in thicker acrylic. The piece on the bowl that slides under the interlock switch seems to be a potential weak point. I just wished choppers/food processors had glass bowls, much like a good blender would have a glass jar. Short of dropping it, a glass bowl should last indefinitely.

My parents have a newer KitchenAid full size food processor but they also have a small Black and Decker mini chopper (I think it's called "Handy Chopper Plus"), which they've had since I was a toddler (I'm approaching my late twenties) and that thing has not given up at all. Even the acrylic bowl is completely intact. My mom uses it quite frequently, when she doesn't need to process a whole lot of ingredients in her big, hulking KitchenAid. They also have the same old Black and Decker "Light & Easy" iron that my dad, a police officer, used to press his uniforms ever since I could remember. If I recall, I think both the iron and the chopper were USA made. They had a B&D blender from the same era, too, but I think either the motor burned up or it was sold at one of our yard sales.

As for my blender, I have a good ol' Oster 18-speed blender with a glass jar, nothing fancy. It's made in China but it seems like a good unit that will last a while. I have a KitchenAid Classic Plus mixer, which should last me most (if not all) of my life.

I have the classic-style DLC-14 Cuisinart. It does nearly everything pretty well, but it excels at bread dough, which is what I use it for the most. Had a (roughly) 2002 KitchenAid as a second processor because the lid and feed tube were a bit simpler to use for shredding or chopping. It really struggled to process even a single loaf's worth of bread dough (around 3-cups of flour).

Really heavy doughs (2-dozen cinnamon rolls; double loaves of multigrain or 100% whole wheat) are kneaded in the KitchenAid stand mixer. The Cuisinart handles everything else without breaking a sweat.

I gave away the KitchenAid food processor when I downsized and moved to an apartment in the summer of 2017.
