Advice wanted on early 50s Hamilton Electric Dryer

Got a reply to a wanted ad I posted and the person sent along these pics for a Hamilton dryer asking if Id be interested. At first I thought no because I figured it was gas after doing some research on here but then I noticed the data plate and saw that its electric.

The person who replied is a professional organizer and says its in the home of clients of hers and they consider it scrap. I asked her to ask the owners if they know whether or not it works. Waiting to hear back on that.

She stated make an offer and she would pass along to owners. But at same time I got the impression she was offering it to me for picking it up as she wrote "you pick up no charge?" I guess she was actually asking if I would charge a fee to pick it up? Now she is asking if I would pay $100.00 for it.

So is it worth that? I was reading here that the gas Hamiltons werent that efficient because of their design. What about the electric models? I hate to think it will get scrapped.

I've seen them sold for both more and less than $100. My 1950 model is electric, runs wonderfully, but isn't all that efficient and doesn't have modern features. But it works and dries the clothes and is a piece of history. I'd say go for it, but it's your wallet, and yes it makes quite a difference if it works or not. Lots of folks here have repaired Hamiltons, but they are historic and old. And fun.
