5. Use Eco Wash balls
Eco wash balls have received a great deal of attention recently and quite rightly so. They remove the need for using detergents in your washing, significantly reducing your environmental impact and cost of washing.

I for one will not be following this advise......wash balls do not work!

But logic tells us that we need some serfactant to loosen and lift dirt and oils. I am sure the laundry balls do give more serface for scrubbing action. But I would still use detergent.
 
Oh gosh, is that a real advice?
Altroconsumo, our consumer reports tested those things and reported that they're as effective as "cold water alone"...

The dutch ConsumerReports [Consumentenbond] tested those things 3 months back, Washed like the same as in cold water with no detergent.
