Hi everyone

I got my Lavamat yesterday. It really is lovely, although it did need a good clean. No problems so far. It weighs a tonne and seems to be all original. Here are some pics. Videos also being uploaded.

Here are the dials and buttons. If I get a chance I will scan the instructions that came with it!

Here is the inside. This machine has 3 support legs. It does of course have an induction motor.

AEG

Hello Rob congratulations on geting this lovely machine, i know they are solidly built and of a high qaulity, it should wash really well too.

The chrome door sets it off beautifully ;-)

whilst i am on the subject of chrome doors a beaten up Hotpoint liberator tumble dryer came into work today so i took the chrome door with mauve window off it....dont know why just thought it was too special to let go of.

anyway again i am pleased to see your purchase, I hope you enjoy it

Finally the serial codes. Now I need your help, can anyone date this machine? I note the last two digits as 79, is that perhaps the year it was built?

Thanks

Rob

congratulations Rob on another great purchase.

for me personally, these are the smartest series of machines AEG ever made - liked the ones that followed, but they had plastic doors and the lack of chrome hindered their looks in my opinion.

one of your machines moved into house number 5 on my road, in the late 80s - by peering into their converted garage, you could just see it.

i cant wait to see the videos - that is if my internet ever starts working again (i am on my parents computer at the moment).

have fun - it looks great.

Videos and thank you

Hi everyone, here are two videos the first is a full demo, the second just an internal demo of the motor.

Paul - thank you for posting this on the ebay thread. If it wasn't for you I doubt I would have seen it! I've always wanted one of these.

Rob

Here is the second video. I took Mark's advice and just tried to talk more naturally without planning. I think I sound more relaxed but I can't deny I hate my own voice LOL!

Hey Rob!!

Congratulations on getting the AEG!!
What a lovely machine.
Thanks very much for the vids as I have never seen an old AEG in action so it was very interesting to watch.
You sound great great in the vid. It does work just talking without planning as you can tell by your commentary you are sounding more relaxed and more natural. Great job!!

Thanks Mark that is really kind of you and thanks to everyone else for their comments.

This machine has nice simple programmes. Prog 2 is the main wash and washes for a decent time (I'd say 25-30mins) even at 40 degrees which compared to some earlier machines isn't bad. It then fills and partly drains and fills again. It washes for a bit then drains. It then does 3 rinses, just as shown in my video. I quite like the 3 interim spins that each get longer. What's strange however, is that on the final spin it just goes straight to 800 and holds it for 4 minutes.

In the next few days I hope to scan some of the instruction book for you.

Does anyone have any ideas about the age of the machine?

Rob

Hi Rob,
congratulations on the acquisition of another fine machine! I can answer your last question. According to Electrolux Distriparts software, the production of this machine started in 1981 and was the successor of the Lavamat 803T (which was in production in 1980).

Hope that helps!

Tom.

Tom - Thanks for that it is really helpful, I thought it was from around that period, to think just a few more years and it will be 30!

David thank you so much for the link, that saves me a a bit of work. To be honest the instructions are a bit tatty so this is a real help.

Hiya Rob and everyone

I hadn't twigged that this was the same machine - the ebay piccy was very tiny!

Really pleased - the machine looks great and sounds VERY quiet indeed.

Fantastic to know that a vintage AEG from my favourite series of AEG's is in good hands.

Question for people - did we (in the UK) get the all button control version of this machine? I know they did an all button control version with a drop down door, but they also did one with standard access. Have seen a piccy of one on the web, but cannot remember ever seeing one as a kid.

Unfortunately my internet access is well and truly ballsed-up and i dont know how to sort it. I am the only person in the house who cant get on the web so, for the fortseeable future, posting of stuff from ebay by me will be few and far between.

I will do discreet trawls at work but that is all - i really dont know how i am going to cope with being torn away from my hobby. hey ho.

Anyway - once again congrats on another great machine. May more come out of the woodwork.

All the best guys.
Cheers
Paul

Hi Paul

Unfortunately, I don't know if a computer control was out at that time. It might be worth checking the instruction book website to see if any exist.

In regards to the internet, I had a problem a while back and it was the splitter that you put on the phone line. My phone socket had a modem connector on it and I was adding a line splitter to that. What I didn't realise was that the modem connector had a line splitter installed so it was double splitting and stopping the service. Once I took the splitter off it worked perfectly. It was a real pain I can tell you! The call centre was in New Delhi too and no offence to the people but they did not speak English and so it was hard to be understood!

Hi Rob.

went over to 'das waschmascinen-forum.de' and found the computer controlled, standard access Lavamat Princess Electronic.

Superb looking machine in my humble opinion.

The drop down door version was definately sold in the UK, as I have a UK advert for it, but i can't remember this one doing the rounds over here. Anyone remember it at all?

Re my internet - was working monday - then phone and internet stopped working on tuesday am - started working again tuesday pm except for my connection. go through the motions and it recognises the network and picks up the signal - just refuses to let me on. I am told none of the settings have changed and everyone elses just came back when the phone came back!

not being computer minded, all i can say is.....hey ho.

Anyway - Lavamat Princess Electronic.
cheers
paul
