AEG videos

Hey guys,

Just did a couple quick shots of the AEG washing a whites load earlier - had the house to myself so thought it was an ideal opportunity to get some filming done without people walking in! I did film the startup too, however my phone went crazy and ended up in not saving it. So you're stuck only with videos of the Sensitive rinse and the full length vid of the 1600rpm final spin.

Excuse the sound quality in the vid - it seems to have captured more noise from my computer fan further away than from the machine itself! Also apologise for the awful sounding spin, the bearings are starting to fail on this beauty :-(

Yes indeed - a wopping water level! That AEG is certainly a classier act than the Zanussi, but what a shame; you say the bearings are going? Will you repare or replace?

Did you use an additive with the Ariel liquid for your whites are are you pleased with just using it as it is? And doesn't that dispenser ball annoy the hell out of you with all the clunking?

i love using dispenser balls. The sound never bothers me but With only using persil i only have a boring fish bowl liquigel one but one of my earliest memories is. The lady across the road from us had a hoover electron and i was in her kitchen once and the machine was distributing and the ball was right in the middle of the drum tumbling about. it was the only thing not stuck to the drum sides. It was the first ariel liquid ball with the blue flower shape type top. This and the old persil flexi ball are IMO the best doseing devices made. NO COMMENT ON WHITES LOL! you know my views on liquids white power

Does anyone remember the single wash ariel balls ? I beleieve they were 'trial size' and came in a little box.

i use a persil dispenser ball at the moment - it is boring compared to some of the other balls design you used to be able to get - i remember the first ariel ones they were cool, more recently though, before liquid tabs came they did a ball that was very thick plastic with a roll on aplicator, now that was really loud in the drum!

yeah thats the balls i was on about milky white plastic with a Blue flower shape type top with holes in it.. The ball itself had 2 levels on A or B for the dosage. It came filled to the high A dose and had a plug in the top. Most supermarkets sold them. Back when liquid was a new thing in the late 80s. My gran used this ball to dose her bio persil liquid. The first persil liquid out and she used it religiously in her Servis Quartz 603. Well enough talk about balls lol hehe Nick

Nice videos. How is your other Aeg machine doing?

Havent seen much of that one lately.

The bearings doesnt sounds so bad yet. I have heard worse, but still its a good idea to change them.

Hi, the other AEG machine is still waiting to be repaired as and when I can afford to. The bearings in the AEG do sound quite bad, the camera muffles the noise somewhat, and it definitely is noticeable because the motor and that is silent. I'm just gonna run it down I think cos a bearing job is about £180 parts plus labour, and might invest in one of those new Logixx 8 machines Bosch are bringing out (or perhaps the Siemens equivalent as it looks more stylish).

That's what my friend was quoted (parts + labour) for a bearing job from Service Force on his AEG 74630. Of course they didn't pay up and bought a new Miele .

About the bearings, try oiling/replacing them?

Firstly… what a water level! You water hog! ;-) LOL

I do have concerns about the rinsing abilities of modern, energy-efficient machines in the UK, though. Even Which?, which I do not always agree with (particularly when it comes to consumer electronics), have raised some concerns in the past about too little water being used in both the wash and rinse cycles of modern machines.

I believe that is why the Sensitive option (and Water plus in Mieles – MUHAHAHA!) is added to many machines. I know many Zanussi machines have it, too. We always have the Water plus feature on, stored in the memory, for every load (except woollens, where Water plus cannot be used, which is probably because the water level is higher for woollens anyway).

I have eczema, so it is important. I don’t doubt the Miele’s rinsing abilities, but the manual suggests using it for people like me.

Loud bearings is a typical AEG problem. Years ago it was even an item on a consumers programme on TV here. My 625 had very loud bearings too, almost from the beginning, but I never had to replace them. Still very annoying though, my washer was far louder than yours seems to be, you really could wake the dead with a spin cycle. Thanks for the vids.
