Hi everyone,

I dont have any pictures or vids of the new machine at work, though i really have run it through it's paces. Its handles a full load really well - and the sensitive care option up's the rinse levels brilliantly!

The sports wash is odd though - on miele's it heats the water to 60 or 90 no? the hoover wont let you go above 30 which is fine i guess, but the wash takes about 35 minutes - which isn't much different from the 30 minute rapid wash. the only thing i guess it does is its 'stain blaster' thing by increasing the drum speed every now and then...pointless really i'd sooner use the rapid 14 wash.

What annoying about it though is that the programs arn't that customisable, ie: the rapid 14 wash and the sports wash only spin at 800, you can lower the speed but not increase it - so this usually results in me having to put the machine on for an extra spin.

Anyways - one thing about it is almost everytime the machine does a 1600 spin, i am getting heaps of rubber flecks on the door and the inside of the drum. Obviously the door rubber is being worn away when it spins - which i guess is normal for a new machine - but it should have stopped doing it after a week no? when i move the drum with nothing inside it, i can hear it runbbing - any clues - should i leave it and let it wear the excess rubber away or take the machine back saying its dodgy?

hope everyone is well :o)

its dodgy, i shuldnt happen at all, no other machine except from our old candy did that, thats why we got rid of our candy, it kept tearing the rubber and that was only a 1300 rpm spin machine.id say bring it back and get a replacement.

Burning rubber at 1600 rpm!

The rubber door seal issue may be a known problem - I have read more than one complaint about it on the 1600rpm models...it might end up with a burning smell!

The optimist in me hopes perhaps Hoover/Candy have modified spare parts and if it's an ongoing problem just make sure you get it fixed under the 1st year's guarantee when all should be free.

It'd be a shame to write off the Vision so early on but then maybe I'm just living in hope they're not all turkeys! I have rather a soft spot for them. Not everyone is keen on the Candification of Hoover but of the two British greats taken over by Italian conglomerates, that's the one that irks me less. Hotpoint can sink without trace now for all I care!

Out of interest, how on earth can you do a wash cycle in 14 mins? What's the breakdown? And why would anyone even bother with it except maybe for one item? Just doesn't seem thorough enough to me.

Cheers

Al

well as much as i love the machine, its' going back this week, i bought it from Costco and they have a 28 day money back guarantee on it, so I'll either replace it or go back to my crappy Bosch Maxxx since i might have to move now anyway!

its such a good machine, but this rubber thing is really awful!

Super Electronic: with regards to the 14 minute rapid wash, it is a quick wash with 2 rinses (inc the final) and an 800 spin (oddly) - i generally use it for my sports gear (cause the sports was is nearly an hour) - the hoovers have the option to increase the wash time on the rapid 14 to 30 min or 45, which is also useful!

it sucks because its such a good machine otherwise, good rinse levels and high quality cleaning. oh well :o(

My Mum's Whirlpool does that

You can hear it squeaking as the rubber rubs on the drum, the seal is worn away at the top and if you put your hand inside the top of the seal it's full of shredded rubber.

Hey ho, the machine was free anyway and none of us are the least bit fond of it (Pointlessly long cycle times, poor rinse results and lack of flexibility, as well as the fact it's silver and none of us like silver appliances) so it dosen't bother us. Just waiting for it to die and be uneconomical to repair then roll on Miele. =)

Visions

Sorry to hear about the Vision, myself had nothing but good feedback with them!!! one of our members (John from Staffs) has one and has put it through its paces for nearly a year now!!! and believe me its been tested!!

He has it in his laundry room next to his 1800rpm AEG, firstly the build and sturdyness is as good if not better than the straight pannelled AEG...

Its very easy to use, great choice of programmes although we have fed back to Hoover about the 800 default spin as well as the 2minute wait until the door unlocks at end of cycle etc...

Some rubber door boots do have bits on them from production but if more bits are being formed as you say after the spin them it needs checking, do you have the serial number to see what part of the production run yours is??

You can also access the Hoover service for a warranty check, but if you have made your mind up then as you say you can take advantage of the returns policy!!

let us know how you get on!!!, cheers, Mike

Do the Hoovers...

...still use that crappy, corrugated plastic baseplate, that the delivery men think is packing/rubbish and invariably fling it away?

ha ha Rolls_Rapid, I can well believe that they throw away the base plate!.

It really is unbelievable that hoover are now producing the worst machines on the market now!

(no offense Rinse_hold, it looks fantastic by the way!)

And after 13 months with my Vision 1400 9kg I still can't sing it's praises highly enough.. No problems so far, still quiet, no problems with faffing on spin and still produces wash, rinse and spin results that I am absolutely happy with.. It's a great machine.

so sad to say goodbye

well i took it back - i was very sad to see it so

seriously its probably one of the best washers i've ever had, i would have picked up another one but i might have to move house soon, so i'm gonna wait and either try my hands with another machine - or get another vision!

the rubber seal thing was getting pretty bad - to the point where the burning smell was making my clothes smell :o(

Costco also have an LG steam 9kg washer in - whats peoples opinion on them?

(ps chestermikeuk the pictures of Johns machine make me sad ;o( )

Washers

Hi Rinse-Hold, (London UK).
Did you manage to get your machine sorted. I have, as a spare, a Hotpoint Aqualtis, model, AQXXF 149 PM. It is a great machine, takes a lot of washing, large port hole to load & unload. Quiet in operation, quiet on the spin, even at 1400rpm.

Sadly, I drove into the door as my washer and is in the garage, and not had time to buy a new door yet.

There are some photos of my machine on this web site.

Regards

Paul
