If you get a chance watch one of the early 50s Christmas movies like Desk Set or White Christmas look to see the yellow bulbs on the trees and how they stand out. White Christmas is on Sundance this afternoon until 5:45.

yellow or Amber bulbs?
Yellow bulbs will make it look like white lights.
Amber bulbs have a nice glow that's subdued. It would really accentuate the tree topper especially if it contains different colored bulbs.

I don't know what "it" will be made to look white, but yellow incandescent Christmas Tree light bulbs do not look white in the two films I mentioned, nor in any photographs that I have seen of these bulbs.
