That pancake recipe is a take off on Dutch Apple Pancake, a favorite of ours.
For even better taste, add 1 tsp Cinnamon to the batter.

We use a baking style recipe for ours, more authentic and I am sure tastes better.
If anyone wants our recipe, let me know and I'll put it out here.

I'm definitely going to try the apple-ring pancakes.

Family Dinner: We always ate dinner together when I was young, even when it was only Mom and me. I had to come in from playing and change into long pants and a white shirt (and a bow-tie on Sundays) for dinner when I was little. That tradition fell by the wayside by the time I was in junior high.

Thanks for the links, Launderess.

They are a hoot.

Mostly "PSA" type films/announcements that many of us had to sit through (if one is of a certain age of course, *LOL*) in high school, but none the less seem so dated today.

There are ones warning girls about "date rape". Young boys about "gays". Wives how not to "offend" their husbands. Teenagers on how to "cure" deviant feelings, and so forth.

My favourite was about 1950's fashions, and judging by the comments it was a hit with others as well.

Bottom line while the 1950's looked great in films and as a look back to many who either were "in" on the gravy train then (read mainly white, hetrosexual, middle class and above persons), or those whom did not actually have to live through it; the bottom line was that it wasn't the heaven so many think for quite allot of people).

Back on topic:

Just luuuuuve buckwheat pancakes and waffles. Though AJ mixes were sold then as now for both, pancake batter generally should not be used for waffles and vice versa. Guess it all came down to how one mixed the stuff up, just as with Bisquick.

And not to mention of how much culture has changed since then. Back then everything revolved around Dad, which I can understand to an extent being the bread winner of the house and so forth. But nowadays when chances are both husband and wife work, you don't see that kind of behaviour much if at all in households.

Louis:

Kind of like English muffins where people in England have never heard of them.

The Dutch Apple pancake is basically sauteed apples with a cinnamon type of flour batter poured over the top in a pan and then baked for about 30 minutes.
