Ahh! Something New Has Been Added - Persil 2in1 "Odor Eliminator"

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Henkel have recently taken over Colgate Palmolive and have carried on production of Dynamo and Cold Power laundry detergents here in Australia.
This new Odour Eliminator Dynamo liquid popped up a couple of months ago here. It does what it says on the tin in terms of eliminating odours but the scent left I find very strong and irritating (and I normally enjoy strong fragrances).
Quite enjoying what else Henkel has brought to the table since the takeover. Especially introducing Lovables detergent which is Perwoll under different name.

In all due respect, think I'll pass on this. Thought Persil was strong as it was, can't imagine it any stronger. I tried the original when it came out and though it cleaned very well, it suds to much for my liking and the scent was awfully strong. LOL.

i hope it smells better than

Tide Sport. Don't get me wrong, Tide Sport smells OK, but not great.

Some people with certain medical conditions, for example, may need more odor removal/replacement, just saying.

As much as I like modern liquid detergents I haven`t found a single one to the day that removes odors 100%.
The only solution that works very well for me is to either add an oxygen bleach based and TAED activated stain remover powder for whites and tough stains or a small amount of a liquid H2O2 based stain remover if color protection and fabric care is a priority. This way even pesky polyester stays fresh for a while.
Suppose I could simply go back to "universal" powders instead, but don`t see this happening.

Borax in its pure form has been banned in Germany (the entire EU ?) for sale to end consumers, because it is a chemical of very high concern, it is teratogenic.
It is still present in the form of boric acid as an enzyme stabilizer in liquid detergents but I think it`s also limited quantity wise.

Borax can’t be bought here.. you need to prove that you’re a company buying for a lab or something similar. But then again.. some people try to sell small bags on eBay lol

Yes, confirming,

For the U.K., you can’t get Borax here from anywhere. We have the “Borax substitute” from Dri-Pak.

Like MrAlex, I have seen “Borax” on eBay, but in truth this could be anything from the substitute, to bicarbonate of soda through to washing soda (I certainly wouldn’t know the consistency of Borax powder).

Don’t know where we stand on anything legally in regards to a ban though, I had heard there was a ban, but unsure if for just U.K or whole EU and if just for certain applications?

Borax is hydrated sodium borate, Na2B4O710h2O. All numbers are subscripts except for the 10 before H2O. I can see this having potential for causing birth defects if not thoroughly rinsed out of fabrics because I remember in my childhood wondering about the unused little colored glass jar labeled Boric Acid in nursery sets. Wasn't it Fab that contained Bleach, Borax and Brighteners in the 70s? Launderess is right, it did deodorize shirts and prevent them from developing perspiration odors during wearing. I used it when I was younger and did not wear undershirts in the summer and it kept shirts sweet all day.  As pure a figure as Rosemary DeCamp used to advertise 20 Mule Team Borax on TV and it was recommended as a diaper pail additive.

I later read that someone caused their baby's death by swabbing the circumcision wound with boric acid every day and by the 10th day the baby died from boric acid poisoning. That was when boric acid was pulled from the market.
