Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I'll be sure to take pictures of our new appliances when they're in to show everyone!

The Frigidaire CI range is going to make the kitchen look a LOT better I'm sure! I'm excited...

Thanks Greg. The Frigidaire looks pretty clean, it's my Whirlpool that I'm worried about! LOL

Let me know the price, shipping, etc. I'll want to keep that baby spic and span :)

Quality

Whatever the shipping is (I'm really curious) plus the cost of the range, I think it'll STILL be a bargain. I suspect a new 40 inch range (do they still make electric ranges that big?) would still exceed the cost of this range and not have anywhere NEAR the quality.

101 uses for a 40

C'mon Louis! I know Europeans are a creative bunch! Here are some suggestions to help you accomodate "Big Bertha"....

Some colourful cushions and a few pillows and you have yourself a lovely daybed/extra stove for those unexpected guests.

A nice piece of granite and you have yourself one heck of a cutting/pastry board

Of course, both ovens make really nice, large bread boxes!!

The possibilities are endless!! I've got a million of them! LOL :)

40

Kenmore1978:

Yes, you can still get 40" stoves. They not only have them at Lowe's by special order (GE and Frigidaire, and I think Kitchenaid and Whirlpool), but they are on ebay as well.

I believe a non-stainless 40" electric stove will set you back about $800.00. The dual fuels are about $1800 on up.

I will let you know what the Frigidaire ends up costing me after it's delivered. I agree with you, however, for the quality, etc. this will end up being cheaper than buying one from the big box dudes.

Flair

Okay Venus, Here's a shot of my flair range. Currently I have it downstairs in the utility room. It's in very good condition although it took a lot of elbow grease to get it looking good. I don't think it had ever been thoroughly cleaned. The only problem is the "Heat Minder" burner always runs hot. Perhaps somebody in the club has a suggestion on how to fix this or a source for parts.

A Flair with flair!!

Rocky2:

Gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous! Be honest now, is this really being used or is it a "museum" piece? I don't know how much cleaning it needed when you purchased it, but it is spic and span now!

As far as your heat minder burner goes...I know my Custom Imperial comes with one. The gentleman that sold it to me said there was some kind of sensor/thermostat inside the middle of the burner. Does the burner work properly on just a regular setting? Your coils seem to be the same type that the CI has. I am not sure how easy they are to find, either from another stove or new from a source like Repairclinic.com.

Gansky1, Appnut, Appliguy, Bethann, and Rickr (both in Indiana)...any suggestions for Rocky2?

The heat minder has a sensor in the middle of the element. If it works on high only, then the pan sensor could be bad. Might be hard to locate one because they haven't used that system on any range since the 70's. It may also be the infinite switch. It could be a special thermostatic switch or the usual Frigidaire infinite switch.

Burner with a brain??

I remember some companies called that feature the "Burner with a Brain"My Grandma (Dads mom) had a gas stove with that feature. She never could get it to work right.Grandpa used to tell her,"Kate, you have to have a brain to use it"! He was NOT a very nice guy. Us kids used to call him Grumpa! LOL
She had that stove until she went to the rest home about 5 years ago. I don't remember what brand it was.

Burner with a Brain

I had a Gaffers & Sattler gas range with that feature, worked flawlessly. Used to set a kettle of water on it, set it for 200, then watch the flame go down as it approached boiling.

So...?

Hey, Venus--

Has the range arrived yet? Are you tracking it? What's the ETA?

Oh, and by the way, as soon as it's installed, you'll have to take a picture of yourself with it, doing the "Sheer Look" pose.

Elbow-length gloves and sheath evening dress mandatory.

The

Veg:

The CI is crated (all 395 pounds) and ready for pick-up. ETA is approx. 2/5-6. I won't have it brought to the house until the tile is down in the kitchen. Thanks to the leaking drain pump in the Hotpoint, the floors are W-A-R-P-E-D >:((

I have just the gown for the pick. Now, if only I can find the gloves....and who will do my hair? This purchase is becoming way too complicated!
