Yippeeeeeeee
Congrats to Matt and Marc on your new old machine.
Really pleased that you got it and that it will soon have a good retirement home.
The 9550A and W are rare machines, as they were on sale for just over a year - from March 85 through to June 86.
Side strips and lid strips are available as new parts still, though an all-round door bowl might be a case of asking a friendly repair shop to watch out for a scrap 95 or 93 dryer, though you could add a later angled door bowl as this will fit too.
Door bowl retaining clips are still available as new parts as well.
You might have to do some surgery on any replacement side or lid strips, as there were two different methods of fastening them to the machine. Either way, I generally dremmell off the the fastening lugs and blue-tak them on instead of permanently fastening them to the machine.
Allows you to remove them from the machine when moving it and also makes it more likely that they will pull off the machine intact, if accidentally caught, rather than cracking and breaking off instead.
Final snippet of info - the fascia! Just as brittle as any other 95, but with the added fun of button mounts that snap (remember the 9584X fascia, where I repaired and strenthened the button mountings, by wrapping them in plastic and super glue). Be gentle with those buttons - just enough pressure, or the buttons will finish up inside the fascia.
I lied ..... this is the '& finally'....
should the fancy take you to remove the fascia - unscrew around the powder drawer, then gently push the fascia to the right hand side of the machine. This disengages the two retaining catches on the back of the fascia, from the metal groove on the bodyshell of the machine.
Dont swing the fascia out from the left hand side, as this will stress the two brittle catches on the right hand side and they will break. If this happens you will have to tape the right hand side of the fascia to the machine, to hold it on.
Thats your lessons for today! lol
You will have known it all already and sorry if it comes across as rather patronising, but just wanted to let you know the foibles in case you didnt.
Great machine and am really pleased that you have managed to take it on. Good Luck with the collection and let us all know how it goes.
Looking forward to the videos!
Cheers
Paul
