Alliance coin-op toploader!!!!

After weeks of playing phone tag with a commercial supplier, I finally have a coin-operated Alliance toploader!!! YAY!!! I have always wanted one of these ever since I first saw them the first time I ever went to a laundromat when I was 8! Finally, 10 years later, I have one! I have yet to try to 3 water saver cycles (think Permanent Press cool down without the rinse...) and I'm not entirely sure I can bring myself to actually do any laundry using those cycles! But, I do see a lot of other brands in this machine! First off, it's built like a freakin tank just like an old Maytag, it has the wavy fins on the agitator just like an old BD Whirlpool, it indexes just like a Westinghouse toploader, and finally, it sprays water allll around the tub when it fills similar to a 1-18! Hopefully, I'll be able to take some vids of this machine in action, it purrs like a kitten! For now, here are some pics!

This machine has the wavy agitator, but I much prefer the older style straight vane agitator, of which I happen to have a brand new one! Does anyone know how to swap them? I don't want to break anything, but I would like to switch them!

to change the agitator,grab ahold under the agitator and pull up.also if the tub spins while washing then you need brake pads.

The tub doesn't spin, it just indexes, it's a brand new machine, so I hope it doesn't need new brake pads!

if it is brand new the tub will index for a few weeks

thats so cool!!!! i love laundromat washers i used to use these speed queens but if i remember right the ones i sued had the stainless steel washbasket....very cool though!!!

That is so cool you have one of those machines!!! Do you think you can take pics of how high the water level goes on those energy saver cycles?

Also do you operate it directly through the service door, or the coin slide

The water level on the energy saver cycles is the same as the regular cycles, however it rinses differently...

The regular cycles go like this:
-fill
-wash agitate
-drain
-spin
-fill
-rinse agitate
-drain
-spin

The water saver cycles go like this:
-fill
-wash agitate
-drain halfway (there is no spin)
-fill up the rest of the way
-rinse agitate
-drain
-spin

Soooo the water saver cycle's rinse uses half of the wash water! BLECH!!!

I use the coinslide to start the machine, I have it set to free, plus the little service door to access the timer (which is no longer mechanical) is held in place by a screw (a very long screw) rather than a lock and takes an eternity to open! The little button is the same button that the coinslide pushes to start the machine.

Thats dumb, wonder why they would make the rinse like that. I just assumed that it used a lower water level than the regular cycles.

I don't know what they were thinkin when they thought up that horrible "energy saver" cycle! They should have just made it do a long series of spray rinses instead of doing a deep rinse if they wanted to save water and just label them as fabric softener or no fabric softener cycles! I used the cycle once with the machine empty, that's the only time I'll ever use that cycle! YEESH!

Bruce, I have it set to the long cycle, it has both though!
