found the prob

what they call the mechanism support on mine is shot..this is the first one i have seen fail but thats what the prob is.. its sagged on one side and makes the tub tilt to the left rear. spinning with any load will never happen. does anyone know where i can buy a new or used one or need something in trade for this part..i havent ever done this job but im sort of looking forward to it..this is the machine with all the outer tub rust, but thankfully that part is all fixed, i just need help in finding a support..thanks so much

You need to find a donor machine! You can see how those cheap bolts holding the support to the outer tub have dissolved with corrosion---as they always seem to do. That pretty much makes it nearly impossible to remove the support without some kind of damage to it---at least where the bolts attach. I wonder if the blade on a dremel tool would help to harvest a support. Maybe one could use high-temp liquid gasket and reform an outside edge. Just a thought.

That one you are showing is shot. Good luck with it and keep us posted.
Oh, the joys of Frigidaire repair----------

cristfr, thanks for the pics. I know that when that fails, it is all over, or so I think. Those just arent made unless you (or I) have thousands to invest. That aint gonna happen. I was un aware that this could cause an out of balance problem. How shitty. I thinks mine goes to the trash! LOL, just kidding.

Let me know via email if you cannot find that thing.

Steve

That support sorta looks like a pound cake that didn't rise right. The low side would have a "sorry streak" in it. Not pretty, but that would be the best tasting part of the cake, really rich and moist. To me, a fallen pound cake is the most delicious dessert I can imagine.
