it's supposed to put you off....

....if you're older. kids have to be able to do SOMETHING that annoys us older folks, it's nature's law. just relax & let the eye liner flow....into you.......adam's a doll.

With this thread is it any wonder,

that Adam, as enormously talented as he is, didn't take first place? His presentation with the make-up and such just does not appeal to the general public (even alot of the gay family is NOT fond of the make-up!) He made a choice of how he wanted to present himself, and, GOOD FOR HIM!! I applaud him for his conviction and being true to himself. But let's face it, if you want to win, you have to appeal to the broadest spectrum of the public. God Bless him, and may he be most successful!!

I agree with little edie

I remember when the Beatles 1st came to the USA.
Long hair !
My parents immediately hated them.
All teens loved them because they were "different" and guys started to let their locks grow longer.
Then others came to the USA that had even longer hair and tighter clothes. Parents hated them too.
Then the teens grew their hair even longer and wore their jeans even tighter.
I really think that Adam Lambert isn't the rebel that most people think he is. What has he done thats SO different?
I mean, look at KISS!
Adam is a great singer and knows how to draw attention.
Remember Liberace?
So Adam is gay....so what?
Alot of people in the entertainment industry are gay.
Alot of people in all walks of life ....are gay !
I wish Adam all the best. I hope he takes his career to the top and brings some excitement back into this otherwise boring time in the music industry.
GO ADAM !

Adam is a great performer and artist. He dresses the part for the song that he is singing. If you noticed, when he sang the ballads, he did not have liner on. But when he did the rock songs..... he did. Most of the rock stars wear the makeup and liner. I just cannot see what the big deal is.

I don't know...wear it, don't wear it..no rhyme or reason for him, presentation is the first impression, you want to be yourself, but like the others said, you want to appeal to a wide variety of people, gay or not didn't matter to anyone, you can't help but wonder, did the eyeliner turn off many admirers despite he can sing?...its a 50/50 chance the world will never know...many are just closed minded and if we are to request equal rights, this may have lost votes, to many gays alone this is a disgrace to who they are, and don't want to be represented by this, Adam didn't set this off by himself...

You have 2 so called choices....when the media wants to interview a gay person, they search out and find the FLAMINGEST one out there...and exploit them, that were all this way--------AND, when these individuals get on TV, they act so obnoxious and wild like there isn't a brain in their head....and this is the person you want to represent our culture, to push forward the general public as to what we All are like....this is just the way the world works!

I think when it comes to EQUAL RIGHTS AMENDMENTS, we need to show were deserving of it, display your right to freedom...once we get it then its too late to change their minds.....

We need to win this...then we can get rid of the NUTS in the White House and put in a little FRUIT!

It's just life, be yourself, but be aware, other WILL judge wether they know you or not, as far as ADAM, he mave have followers who like him, but if votes counted, you would have to go with what the Majority Ruled or take your chances...

I could go on and on....but hopefully you get my drift!

I'm sure many will agree and others not, and thats where you get..."I like it" or "I don't"...and like in this discussion we'll see who has the higher vote?

American Idol

Sometimes I think that I am the last gay man on earth who has never watched American Idol...and have no plans of doing so.

In truth none of my friends have watched it either, and like me just don't understand the appeal.

Kenb...you are not alone

I've never seen Idol either. I have seen plenty of Adam photos. The makeup's ok, but those finger nails...yikes! I never even knew Lee Press-Ons came in black, especially in the "Career Girl" length.

I'm not a fan of Adam's fashion choices. I was amazed to hear so many people say he was the one to watch after just the first night of the show. I guess I'm in the minority because I thought Danny was very soulful in every one of his performances. He'd be the winner right now if they had only booted Kris out of the final three instead.

As time went on, it was clear that Adam was an accomplished entertainer. The rest of the lot on AI were just people who thought they could sing. Adam doesn't just sing, he performs. He's going to be a great professional entertainer, there is no question about it. But his fashion sense--or lack of it, is a turn-off.

I haven't really watched AI since Ruben won, when it should have Clay. I have never been a fan of Carrie Underwood. When it comes to country music I like the classics from the 50's to the early 80's after 80's it became to Pop for me. I usually just wait and watch the final episode for the season.

I think this last season of AI is the last my roommate heard that Simon is dropping AI.

I think

Adam was just plain too much for the type of people who like that type of show.

Kris is more the innocent wet dream, you can get off on him and forget him.

Adam is, well, he kinda reminds me of another seriously talented singer - Grace Slick.

On a bad hair day, but still - the guys got talent.

Now, personally, I like my men to be men. But heh - he'll no doubt be having Kris on to do duets with him when he's got his own major career five years down the road and Kris is back doing whatever it is he's good at. Of which singing is not.

Looking cute and hung and adorable, yes. Sounding it, no.

I'll probably get shot.

The only episode of American Idol I have seen is the finale for this season. I really enjoyed Kiss and Queen, but (this is why I'll probably get shot) I don't think Adam sings good. I think he did an awful job on Queen and Kiss.

As far as the older generation not liking how the younger generation dresses, I'm of the younger generation (25) and I really don't like how Adam dresses. But those are my two cents worth.

I understand your point Maytagbear.....

and I do agree with you.........but
I believe that if he dressed "nicely" and didn't wear the eyeliner that he might have melted in with all the rest.
If I were appearing on American Idol I'd do everything possible to stand out from the crowd. I'd be singing in a rhinestone studded jock if I had to.
And evidently his choice of songs and his choice of apparel worked.
The show is over....he came 2nd....and who gets talked about the most?
Adam Lambert

I think Adam will go far in the entertainment industry only because he's got guts. He's got balls the size of Texas.
He must, because he does whatever it takes to get the job done and to get people to remember him.

I heard Liberace once say.....you can laugh at me all the way to the bank !

Hey Butch....I agree with you. He is an entertainer. The ones that come in second seem to do the best. He dressed the part for what he sang, not like some of the other contestants. Can't remember what they wore or sang for that matter. They sort of blended in. We have way too many artists like this now a days. We need somebody different, and different Adam is. lol
