Hello guys, I have an Amana ARDS800E electric downdraft range. Just curious if anyone knew what year this thing was? I just cleaned it up today really good, and it got me thinking. Since I found this forum, I have brought my Kitchenaid Imperial Selectra 21 dishwasher back to life, and the thing is wonderful!! Was curious if by chance I had another gem in the rough on my hands with the range. It came with out house that we bought 3 years ago, and I have never really paid attention. I have heard that the general concensious with down draft ranges, is that they are "good". But dont really know much other then that. It has the removable/changeable plates. IE, grill, electric burners, and the glass top burner set. I have heard there is also a griddle, but I dont have that piece of the puzzle. Would love to acquire it though if there is one!

It's a 1994 per one on line source.

We have a 1990 Jenn Air dual fuel downdraft range to unload. Let's just say I'm not expecting a financial windfall from it.

I think your Amana is at that awkward age where it can't command a very high price. Many people are re-doing mid-90's kitchens and discarding ranges that they feel have gone out of style so there are a lot of them available these days.

If it's performing satisfactorily for you, keep enjoying it!

Along those lines, have you grilled on it? How did it do? Our Jenn Air was kind of lame. A gas flame being sucked towards the air intake could never get the job done properly. I would think an electric element would provide superior results.

The electric grill worked much more evenly than the gas grill module because the radiant heat from the electric elements went straight up to the food. The gas flame is pulled sideways by the down draft so the cooking heat on the outside edge of the grill is less intense than on the inside. The griddle just sits on the grill element; it's not thermostatically controlled.
