I was in Home Depot and saw an Amana Front loaded. It was under $600 and looked like a decent BOL Machine. Opinions?

does better than OK...

It does excellent! I bought mine at home depot in January of this year, and its been top notch! Straight-forward, basic cycles and options. It does have a few little "quirks", but what brand/model doesn't, Right??
Last only about 4 years? depends on how its used.

For someone that wants a GOOD energy-efficient frontload washer,at a good value for the price, you can't beat it. Yeah so it doesn't have Pre-wash, on board-heater, a soak cycle etc, if someone is going to loose sleep over not having those when doing laundry, then get a LG for over $1,000.00+, That will fix their anxiety issue.
I recommend this washer to anyone that is wanting to get a front loader, without the outragous price that comes with some brands and models.

I had the Maytag Samsung built washer that was like that machine and it lasted just shy of 4 years. Takes a long time to get a load of laundry done, very fussy about how it balances a load. Bearings dont last on these machines and keep in mind that they were recalled for fire issues. Thats my experience with it. I still have the dryer. I will say that it does wash well and it is frugal with water. Capacity is very good. It is what it is.
