However. There is a website: Better Home products that carrys the whole line and their prices are good too.

Have Mixed Feelings About Laundry Products That Leave Residu

I mean does one want perfume chemicals rubbing off on one's skin each time you move about?

@rayjay

May check the place out if ever down that way. But quite honestly am that good with Persil ATM don't think will need to purchase more anytime soon. However since one can only use European detergents in the AEG who knows? Maybe that will reduce my stash sooner than planned.

Remember the evil Chinese guy in "The Manchurian Candida

who was so concerned about having enough time to get his Red Chinese wife to Macy's so she could buy all those products not available to their loyal 'comrades' back home?"

Why is it so surprising that many American corporations are going to leave no stone unturned to make sure that Americans continue to buy their high-profit crap than have the option to buy better products from other countries where some American products wouldn't stand a chance?

Remember, offshore business, for US citizens, is only for the top 1% and that's the way the top 1% wants to keep it. It is interesting how many of my very wealthy neighbors have a big 'ol box of Persil to go along with their Miele's and their Asko's and none of them have any idea why they're using those products; it's just what all the richies do these days.

Persil isn't sold at Wal-Mart.

A search for Better Home Products only yielded a place that sells hardware: doors, bath furnishings etc with no mention of Persil or the class of products which might include Persil. Can you provide a more exact site for purchasing Persil, please? Thanks.

We've Covered Persil Hygienespuler Before

Henkel markets the product as a fabric rinse for laundry which cannot or was not laundered in hot water and or with (oxygen) bleach.

Have some in my stash. Scent is very powerful and you must use quite a lot to get full benefit. Not sure what Henkel gives as number of doses per bottle, but at USA prices it is still dear for what you get.

Oh and product is marked with an expiration date. Not sure how long after such time the germ killing properties are still active, but I'd want fresh.

Something worth noting...

P&G dominates the American Market, and practically own every single Oxygen Bleaching system patent they can get there hands on. I'd imagine that Persil would have some trouble releasing there formula into the North America market with P&G in the way...

Henkel and EU Detergents Use

Tetraacetylethylenediamine (TAED) as the oxygen bleach activator of choice.

Why the difference?

As with most other things related to laundry it came down to the different methods between European and American washing habits.

In the United States top loading washing machines dominated the market. This required a product able to give results in the high dilution and lower temperatures that come with such methods.

On the other side of the pond H-Axis washing machines dominated the market. These machines also most always had the ability to heat wash water from cold to >200F. This required a bleaching activator not only able to work with the concentrated water/detergent/bleach liquor but could so at "warmer" temperatures.

P&G and Henkel would not be in each other's manor regarding bleaching systems, since their patents are based on different chemicals though they perform basically the same function.

Laundress

Would you happen to have a MSDS or Ingredient Disclosure for Persil? Never seen one, but would love to have a look at the formulation. Personally, besides more enzymes I thought it was very similar to Tide Powder.

Persil was quite late to the market with it's "Hygienespüler". For many years products like Sagrotan and Impresan have been on the market in Germany. I've used it recently to wash clothes I was wearing when I had the flu.

Sagrotan:

is owned by Reckitt Benckiser, so perhaps sometime Lysol will come with a similar product.

Impresan:

http://www.impresan.de/

has a hygiene rinse aid that is a softener too. It has a very nice smell to it.
