A long time ago-when I was little-I had an unusual dream about my late Grandmother’s 1971 Kenmore belted washer (she was alive when I had the dream-also had the washer also)-I dreamed it was torn up-the washer was making the pulsating breathing sound-but it wasn’t a normal pulsating breathing like it was supposed to make-it was long and drawn out-kind of like a “whoooooeeeeeeeooo, whoooeeeeeeeooo”. I dreamed that was what the problem was-and in the dream, there was a wringer washer in the room as well-to replace the 1971 Kenmore-I was spooked by the unusual sound the washer was making in my dream-so I went into the middle bedroom-and looked out the window-in the dream there was a second hand appliance store outside. I saw a black Kenmore Bakelite Roto-Swirl agitator sitting on top of a washer there-I stared at it-it kind of calmed me down from the horrendous sounds the 1971 Kenmore was making.

Washing machines appear in my dreams once or twice year. A recurring theme is that there are several different washers in the laundry room of the house I grew up in, when in actuality all we ever had was the 1960 Kenmore Model 80 pair.

In the dream, I'll load up and start the Model 80, but a different washer is there when I return to check on cycle progress or to transfer the load from washer to dryer.

I also recall that sometimes the outside of a washer is one brand, but when I open the lid it's a different brand inside.

Sometimes the washer is oversudsing or overfilling with water, but rather than just filling the basket and overflowing onto the floor, the water goes right up to the lid; the inside of the machine is completely submerged, but it doesn't run out onto the floor.

Odd things, dreams.

I dreamed about a either a Kenmore or Frigidaire that was made from a Wolverine toy appliance sort of design--maybe it was that...

A butcher shop/party shop with an eatery w/ three band saws behind the counter, surprisingly no one was using and over the cafe was a ceiling fan which rotated slowly in one direction then spun endlessly, slowing down just to reel back and spin again., and repeatedly cycle and recycle like such...

I think I was listening to this record:.

The machines that are always in my dreams are the Maytags and Whirlpool/Kenmore belt drive washers from the 50’s to the mid 1980’s. I even have dreams where I worked on the Whirlpool 29” belt and pulley drys from the 50’s as well as the HOH dryers, and since I had dreams of working on those dryers working on my DE306 and DG306 was almost like deja vu. I even serviced a mid 50’s Whirlpool Imperial dryer and working on that dryer was like deja vu, and I managed to service it without looking through any repair manuals and such. Sometimes dreaming on working on machines can help when you acquire them one day in the future lol
