I've been generally vague as to where I live specificly in Texas except for some people on the site. I live in Temple Texas. So you can begin looking up online news. Wednesday May 22nd there was a major weather storm. There were 4 tornadoes that went Through Temple, at least one was an EF2 and 2.5 miles wide. At 6:30 pm CDT my power went out. I was sitting in my walker in my hallway with all doors closed. I heard noises around my house I've never heard before the 40 years I've ilved here. Thankful I have metal roof. MY neighbors told me they ssaw a tornado go over our houses as well as right down the street in front of our homes. Thus far just a band joining sections was ripped off. Roofing contractors including my neighbors brother (and weren't "ambulance chasers" were on my street Thursday morning. A contractor helped me file a claim with my home owners insurance and I had a claim number by noon Thursday. My subdivision exits out West Aedams. Where I live did not have any significant damage, but east and West on Adams Ave from here was significant damage. LIke a bomb exploded. Downtown also receive significant damage. In fact, when Glenn & Melvin came up to retrieve the Lady Shredmore, where we ate lunch is one of the areas with significant damage.

I've lived through the worst Hurrixans to hit Houston in my life, but this was far more traumatic to me. My power was finally restored Saturday evening around 8:30 A friend came up from Georgetown on Thur. or Friday to retrieve all the meat in my chest freezer and take it to her house. I"ve spent all day cleaning up my fridge. My neighbor will help me with what's in my chest freezer when there's room in our trash cans next weejend, Am thankful my electricity came back on last night. It was 85F in my house. My neighbors have been looking out for me.

Glad you're OK

Sorry to hear you went through that; very scary indeed!  Thankfully you're ok and that you have a nice community of people who look out for you (and for one another).  Take care.

Bob,

Thanks for letting us know what happened and that you survived the whole ordeal!  There's been a lot of BAD weather in that part of the country for several days, and there could be more.  Keep your eyes and ears open for warnings and protect yourself should this type of situation reoccur.

Take care and thank you again for letting us know!

I'm so sorry to hear about the damage, but thankfully you are OK and apparently have good neighbors who are helping. That's so important in a time of crisis!! I can't imagine how frightening it was or how much worse it could have been. Sending positive thoughts your way!!

Glad to hear you're okay and survived with minimal damage, it sounds like it could have easily been a far worse experience. You seem to be blessed with good helpful friends which comes in handy in those situation.

It reminds me of 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake I experienced as a kid. Earthquakes were a fun experience until that happened. Took a few years until they didn't bother me again.

I'm glad you're ok. Thats what really matters. Everything else can be repaired or replaced.

I am so sorry you had to experience what you experienced. Thats awful and you didn't deserve that. Even if you didn't personally  end up with severe damage to you're home I can understand being so close to those who did can really shake you up. Take time, heal and don't be afraid to talk to others. Talking helps to make peace with things and lets people move forward.

Sending my love for you and the communities impacted.

Bob,
Wow that was a terrible experience! I’m glad that you made it through it OK and are still in your home. Hope the worst is over. What I’ve seen on TV about these recent tornados in Texas is pretty extreme.

Wow, that sounds like a close call

Most importantly, glad you’re OK. Everything can be fixed but we really do become accustomed to having electricity and it’s a real pain when we don’t.

As you probably remember Tom and I lived through a tornado two weeks after 911 here in Beltsville that came through the neighborhood, almost 100 homes got new roofs but the damage was not super bad. A few people had to leave their homes while they were repaired.

I always remember Tom came down and helped me nailing a tarp on my roof that evening because it was starting to rain and water was coming down into the dining room. We saved a lot of damage by doing that.

Again, really glad you’re OK. Hopefully that’s all the Tornadoes that you and I will experience in our lifetimes

John
